With the addition of several new weapons, features, and more in Destiny 2 brought by The Final Shape, many Guardians are trying to get as much as possible.
One of the items that have been targeted by Guardians are the Motes of Light as a total of 17 of these are needed to obtain a new Exotic Auto Rifle.
Obtaining Motes of Light can be confusing at first if you have just started and may require a bit of grinding but we have made this guide to help speed things up.
How To Get Mote of Light?
There are two ways for players to get Motes of Light but these are limited as you can only get 17 in total and these come from specific sources.
1) Overthrows (9 Motes of Light)
Overthrow is an activity that tasks the Guardian with obtaining points in order to increase the level of a region until they cause the boss to spawn.
This later allows you to fight a boss in the regions, which will drop a Mote of Light but there is a catch since each boss can only drop a Mote of Light once.
There are 3 bosses that you can fight in The Landing, The Blooming, and The Impasse, meaning you can only get 9 motes from defeating all of them.
2) Visions of the Traveler (8 Motes of Light)
The Visions of the Traveler are represented by bright spheres that are damaged and these can be found in specific locations in the Pale Heart.
Collecting a Vision of the Traveler will provide you with a Mote of Light and there are a total of 8 of these that can be found.
This means that you can only get 8 Motes of Light from the Visions of the Traveler and when added to the 9 from the Overthrow bosses, this will complete your collection.
Mote of Light Use
A Mote of Light on its own does not have any specific use and you will need to get a total of 17 if you want to get the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic Auto Rifle.
Once you obtain the last Mote of Light, all of them will be merged to form a Mote of Primordial Light.
The Mote of Primordial Light is the final item that you will need to obtain the Khvostov 7G-0X Exotic Auto Rifle at the Speaker’s Chamber.
Verdict
Grinding in Destiny 2 has always been a thing but some have found obtaining all the Motes of Light a bit challenging, especially when playing solo.
The good thing about doing Overthrows and getting the Visions of the Traveler is that these also help you progress and you can even get better gear.
Once you get your hands on the Mote of Primordial Light, you will have everything you need since the Visions of the Traveler are kept and will need to be placed later at the Speaker’s Chamber.
