Titles have always been a popular trend in Destiny 2 as these can be equipped to showcase your progress in the game for everyone to see.
Before you can use Titles, you will first need to obtain them by completing a set of Triumphs related to it, which usually involves an episode (previously called seasons) or events.
During Episode: Heresy, the Title of Heretic can be yours once you have completed all the necessary Triumphs related to it.
How to Get Heretic Title?
To obtain the Heretic Title, you will need to complete all of the 16 Triumphs that are listed when viewing it.
This can be found by opening Journey and selecting the Title menu, where you may choose Heretic to view its Triumphs.
Once you have completed all 16 of the Triumphs, you may then equip the Heretic Title from the Journey menu.

Complete the quest “The Taken Path.”
Dreadful Discoveries
Complete the side quests via Sloane’s Dossier linked to Episode: Heresy’s First Act, Echoed Warnings.

Unlock any type of permanent enhancement for Episode: Heresy activities.
- Unlock 40 Enhancements
By Sigil and Scripture
Acquire Permanent Scriptures and receive ritual rewards to gain the ability to create Crumbling Scriptures with the Tome of Want.
- Unlock 2 Permanent Scriptures
- Obtain 15 Ritual Rewards
Nether Rites
Acquire any type of boon during Nether runs. Major and corrupted Boons grant additional progress.

Expert Nether
Complete The Nether activity on Expert Difficulty.

Complete encounters in The Nether activity. Completing encounters on Expert Difficulty awards additional progress.

Spend Runes to buy armaments in the Court of Blades. Higher tier Runes grant additional progress.

Prolific Challenger
Defeat challengers in the Court of Blades.

Expert Court of Blades
Defeat at least 5 challengers in the Court of Blades in a single run on Expert Difficulty.

Dreadnaught Collector
Collect any type of collectibles found in Episode: Heresy activities.

Dreadful Secrets
Find secrets hidden throughout The Nether aboard the Dreadnaught.

Find chests hidden deep within the Dreadnaught, locked behind portals in The Nether.

Verdict
Obtaining the Heretic Title may take time and will require that you progress through the different acts in Episode: Heresy.
Act III: Crossed Blades introduced several additions to Episode: Heresy that now allows players to complete several Triumphs.
Some of the challenges require a lot of grinding, which makes doing activities such as The Nether and the Court of Blades best to be done with a fireteam for quick progression.
