How the Battle Pass Works in Season 8 Diablo 4 (Belial’s Return)

The Battle Pass has always been something that players look forward to in every season and this time, there is a big change.

Previously, the Battle Pass had a system where you needed to continuously gain Favor to reach higher tiers to claim Cosmetic Items.

The Battle Pass Reliquary system is now live, and this provides you with a new way to obtain rewards with a more selective approach.

 Battle Pass Changes

Instead of the traditional type of Battle Pass that had you reaching up to Tier 100 to claim each prize in a certain order, the Battle Pass has been altered.

There are now Reliquaries instead, which allow you to choose which prizes you want to claim at the cost of Favor Tokens.

Favor Tokens are obtained throughout the season, and each Reliquary holds different Cosmetic Items that can be purchased with this currency.

Battle Pass Reliquaries

The standard Battle Pass Reliquary will always be tied to the season, and this serves as the free version of the Battle Pass that doesn’t require real money to get.

All the rewards except for the final one may be purchased with Favor Tokens in any order and once all have been purchased, the final Cosmetic Item can be claimed for free.

The Battle Pass Reliquary isn’t the only collection that holds rewards though as there are Premium Battle Pass Reliquaries that can be unlocked as well.

Premium Battle Pass Reliquaries

Premium Battle Pass Reliquaries function similarly to the standard one but to unlock them, you must spend a certain amount of Platinum.

Once you have unlocked a Premium Battle Pass Reliquary, you will be able to purchase items from the collection using Favor Tokens.

It is possible to view the available rewards before unlocking the Reliquary to see if you want any of the rewards and if they are worth unlocking.

How To Get Reliquary Rewards?

To get Reliquary Rewards, you simply need to select the Cosmetic Item that you want and purchase it provided you have enough Favor Tokens.

Once a Cosmetic Item has been purchased, it will be yours permanently and may even be shared by other characters if possible.

Selecting the item that you want from the Battle Pass Reliquary or the premium ones if they are unlocked will open up the purchase menu for the item.

Farming Favor Tokens

Favor Tokens are easy to get, and these will be generated as you complete quests and continue to slay demons throughout Sanctuary.

There is a tracker in the Reliquaries menu that shows the amount of Favor Tokens that you have as well as the progress to obtaining the next one.

Favor Tokens have a maximum carry limit, which means you need to spend them before they reach 99 as this is the largest amount you can carry.

Free Platinum

Each season will have Platinum as some of the rewards in the Free Battle Pass Reliquary, which means you can get Platinum for free.

Unlike in the previous seasons, a larger amount of Platinum could be obtained, and this has been changed as there are fewer rewards, and it is easy to progress.

Verdict

The new Battle Pass Reliquaries system may seem to be a bit confusing at first, but it is very simple and provides you with a way to choose your own rewards path.

Unlike the previous Battle Pass where you had to start from Tier 1 and make your way to the end to get all the rewards, you may now purchase the ones that you want.

It does seem like the rewards are fewer than in the previous seasons, but you can still expect a lot more good things from Blizzard in the future.
