Smokie is a Dark Pal that is often seen around Feybreak Island and has been favored as a companion when roaming the different regions and caves due to its Partner Skill.
When it comes to battles, Smokie may hold off enemies if its level is high but aside from fighting, this Pal serves as a way to find Chromite.
While sought to be harmless, fighting Smokie can be a bit of a challenge if you are new to Feybreak Island and if your level is not high enough.
Smokie Location Map
You will often run into a Smokie or two now and then when you are exploring the Scorched Hill region on Feybreak Island.
Additionally, there is a dungeon called the Sealed Realm of the Little Hero located at (-878, -1479) where a Level 55 Dungeon Boss called Smokie, Jet-Black Little Hero may be encountered.
Smokie Uses
Smokie is a must-have Pal if you are searching for Chromite around Feybreak Island and the many caves that you may find on it thanks to its Partner Skill.
Aside from being able to sniff out Chromite, Smokie can accompany you to help fend off other Pals regardless of it being a small companion.
When assigned to a base, these Pals can help out with gathering from Plantations and do a pretty decent job at this until you have a better Pal to handle the task.
Smokie Partner Skill
Smoke’s Partner Skill is called “Dig, Dog! Dig” and this can be activated at any time to command Smokie to detect nearby Chromite.
Once activated, any Chromite in an area around Smokie will be revealed and you will be able to mind the Chromite Nodes that appear to get the material.
This can be extremely useful when you are in areas filled with Chromite, especially in caves where Field Bosses can be found as there are often 4 nodes in them.
Using Smokie’s Partner Skill requires that you unlock and craft Smokie’s Harness.

Smokie’s only Work Skill is Gathering, which can be useful if you don’t have any other Pals available to gather crops from your Plantations.

Verdict
Smokie may not be the most powerful Pal to have in a fight and even if it doesn’t have any Exclusive Skills, it can still be a good companion to have on your team for farming Chromite.
Compared to most Pals, Smokie is more of a companion for obtaining Chromite but if its level is high enough, it can defend you from most enemies that you encounter.
Aside from Smokie, the only other way to find Chromite on Feybreak Island would be to use a Metal Detector and when combined, it is much easier to discover nodes.
