Palworld has always been a fun game, even when it was initially more focused on PVE aspects, and for those who are hungry for some player vs player action, certain changes have been made.
Back then, PVP activation had its limits when it came to how things were, and now, more balance and features have been included to make fighting against other players more fun.
In the Home Sweet Home update, a certain number of changes have been applied and will take place when a server has PVP activated.
PVP Changes in Palworld
Player Can Damage Each Other
Players are able to directly attack one another, transforming encounters into high-risk engagements where awareness, positioning, and preparation determine survival rather than pure Pal strength alone.
Pals Automatically Become Hostile
Entering another player’s base instantly triggers defensive Pals to respond aggressively, turning trespassing into a dangerous action that punishes careless exploration or intentional infiltration.
Flyer and Mounted Pals Damage
Players riding flying or mounted Pals receive increased incoming damage, making fast travel and mounted combat more vulnerable when targeted by enemies or base defenses.
Chests Accessibility
Storage containers can be opened by players outside the owning guild, encouraging smarter base layouts and better protection strategies to prevent valuable resources from being stolen.
Structure Damage Resistance Vs Melee Weapons
Structures built by other players take reduced damage from melee weapons, discouraging simple raids and requiring attackers to use better tools or coordinated strategies.
Pals Defend Bases With Increased Range
Base-assigned Pals can detect and attack enemies from a much greater distance, providing wider defensive coverage and punishing players who approach without preparation.
Building Range To Other Structures Increased
The minimum distance allowed between nearby bases has been expanded, giving players more room to develop large builds while reducing overcrowding and territorial conflicts.
Player Name And Damage Distance
The visibility range for player names and damage indicators has been adjusted, affecting combat awareness and making long-distance engagements less predictable and more tactical.
Base Attack Alerts
Players receive alerts when their base is under attack, while construction and repairs are temporarily disabled, emphasizing preparation and defense rather than emergency rebuilding.
Weapon Value Modifications
Several weapons have had their damage and effective range altered, subtly shifting combat balance and encouraging players to rethink which gear best fits their playstyle.
How To Activate PVP?
To activate PVP in Palworld, there is currently no option in the Change World Sections part when creating a server, and players will need to resort to editing one of the config files.
This will be the PalWorldSettings.ini in the server folder of the server you want to set to PVP, which will often have a path such as: Local > Pal > Saved > Config > Windows > PalWorldSettings.ini.
Change the following:
- bIsPvP=True
- bEnablePlayerToPlayerDamage=True
- bEnableDefenseOtherGuildPlayer=True
Verdict
The new PVP mechanics bring meaningful depth to Palworld’s multiplayer experience, shifting the focus toward preparation, positioning, and smart decision-making during player encounters.
Base defenses and guild interactions now play a much larger role in survival, encouraging players to invest time into security, layout planning, and coordinated defensive strategies.
Overall, these changes create a more balanced and engaging PVP environment that rewards thoughtful play while adding long-term replay value for players seeking competitive gameplay.
