If you have gone around exploring the different areas and islands in Palworld, you will often come across chests that have loot in them.
While those with a purple or yellow glow to them can easily be opened, there are locked chests that are distinguishable by their red glow.
Finding keys was the main solution to opening these back then but since the Feybreak Update, you can now unlock chests without keys using a new tool.
How To Unlock Chests Without Keys?
Opening a chest without a Copper, Silver, and Golden key can be done once you unlock and craft Lockpicking Tools.
There are 3 versions of these, which allow you to lockpick the different chests based on the keys that are needed for them.
Lockpicking Tools are Key Items and once you have them, you can use them countless times as they do not break or disappear when used.
How To Get Lockpicking Tool?
Lockpicking Tools can be unlocked once you reach Levels 16, 26, and 51 as each level will unlock a Lockpicking Tool for chests that require Copper, Silver, and Gold Keys.
Once a Lockpicking Tool has been unlocked at a certain level via the Technology Menu under Ancient Technology, you may craft them at a High-Quality Workbench or better.
The following are the materials required to craft the different Lockpicking Tools:
Tool | Crafting Materials |
| Lockpicking Tool v1 |
|
| Lockpicking Tool v2 |
|
| Lockpicking Tool v3 |

List of Lockpicking Tools and Uses
There are 3 variants of the Lockpicking Tool, which will allow you to open a certain type of chest depending on which one you have in your Key Items inventory.
The following are the different variants of the Lockpicking Tools that you can unlock and craft:
- Lockpicking Tool v1 – Opens Copper Key Chests
- Lockpicking Tool v2 – Opens Silver Key Chests
- Lockpicking Tool v3 – Opens Gold Key Chests
How To Use Lockpicking Tools?
Lockpicking Tools can be used once you have crafted and collected them, which will have them placed in the Key Items section of your Inventory.
Once you have the Lockpicking Tools required for opening a specific chest, you will find another option available when you approach them. (Lockpicking)
Choosing the Lockpicking option will start a mini-game where you need to pick the lock, which can be done by turning the pick and turning the lock.
You will need to first turn the pick to the right angle and turn the lock to see if it moves all the way or else you need to try again.
Start by moving the pick and slowly turning the lock to see if it moves smoothly to make sure your attempt does not fail, and you must restart.
Adjust the pick if you are unable to smoothly turn the lock and try to find the sweet spot until it goes all the way, which will unlock the chest.
Verdict
Copper, Silver, and Gold keys can be obtained in various ways, especially if you are exploring but having a Lockpicking Tool is best on hand.
Making sure that you have all the Lockpicking Tools crafted when possible is a great way to make sure that you don’t miss out on loot.
You can always choose whether to open a chest with a key or use a Lockpicking Tool, allowing you to conserve keys or use them first before resorting to picking the lock on a chest.
