Gliders have long been a useful way to cross gaps, reach lower areas, and move through places that are difficult to navigate on foot.
The Wing Pack changes that completely, giving you powered flight that lets you rise, steer, and travel through the air rather than simply falling from one point to another.
It is a major mobility upgrade for exploration, especially when you want to travel freely without depending on a flying Pal to get you around.
How To Unlock and Craft Wing Pack?
The Wing Pack can be unlocked at Technology Level 80 for 9 Ancient Technology Points, placing it among the final upgrades in the Ancient Technology tree.
Once unlocked, the Wing Pack can be crafted at an Ancient Workbench using the following materials:
- 30 Paldium Fragment
- 6 Paloxite Ingot
- 20 AI Core
- 20 Thermal Core
- 10 Ancient Civilization Core
How To Use Wing Pack?
The Wing Pack is equipped in your glider slot and activated in mid-air, allowing you to transition directly into powered flight as long as you have Wing Cells.
Once airborne, you can control your direction and altitude, giving you the freedom to climb, descend, turn, and travel through the air.
Unlike a normal glider, the Wing Pack can gain altitude under its own power, allowing you to reach areas that would normally be impossible to access from your starting position.
Wing Cells are consumed throughout flight, so longer journeys require you to keep track of your remaining fuel before travelling too far from the ground.
Be especially careful when your fuel is running low, because the Wing Pack does not switch to normal gliding once your Wing Cells are depleted and you will simply begin falling.
Wing Cells
Wing Cells are the fuel required to power the Wing Pack and can be unlocked at Technology Level 80 for 5 Technology Points.
Each Wing Cell can be crafted using:
- 10 Mythical Wood
- 20 Crude Oil
Wing Cells are consumed throughout powered flight, meaning your fuel supply gradually decreases simply from remaining airborne rather than only being used when boosting.
Running completely out of Wing Cells causes the Wing Pack to stop functioning, so carrying additional fuel is important whenever you plan to fly over dangerous or difficult terrain.
Keeping a healthy supply is especially important for long-distance flights, as running dry in mid-air will leave you falling with no normal gliding function to save you.
Wing Pack Advantages
The biggest advantage of the Wing Pack is the amount of control it gives you compared with simply jumping and deploying a traditional glider.
You can gain altitude, change direction, remain airborne, and even fire weapons while flying, giving you far more options during exploration and combat.
It also allows you to keep your entire party available for combat, gathering, or other purposes instead of needing a flying Pal primarily for transportation.
Being able to attack while airborne also makes the Wing Pack useful during combat, letting you reposition above enemies while continuing to deal damage from the air.
Wing Pack vs Gliders
Traditional gliders are useful for simple aerial travel because they require no fuel and allow you to safely descend from elevated areas.
The Wing Pack offers powered flight, letting you gain altitude and control your movement instead of being limited to a gradual descent.
The main tradeoff is fuel, as running out of Wing Cells while airborne leaves you falling instead of allowing you to continue gliding.
Wing Pack Benefits
The Wing Pack makes difficult terrain much easier to deal with, letting you fly over cliffs, large gaps, and other obstacles instead of searching for a route around them.
It is also useful during long resource runs, allowing you to move between distant locations quickly without repeatedly climbing or relying on a flying Pal.
Being able to fly independently also gives you more freedom when building your party, since every slot can be filled according to your actual combat or gathering needs.
For players who spend a lot of time exploring the World Tree and other large areas, the additional mobility can make travelling considerably more efficient.
Verdict
The Wing Pack is a powerful endgame mobility upgrade that turns the familiar glider system into fully controlled powered flight.
Its ability to gain altitude and travel freely through the air gives it a major advantage when exploring difficult terrain or covering long distances.
The need for Wing Cells and the danger of falling when they run out are important drawbacks, but with enough fuel available, the Wing Pack is an excellent tool for serious exploration.
