Diablo 4 The Dread Martyr Quest Walkthrough

While exploring the Olyam Tundra, you stumble upon a downed knight named Sir Cromwell who asks you to listen to what he has to say.

He speaks of a man named Lord Avitus, who was killed in the ancient city but rose later on with a thirst for blood that now needs to be slain.

You must make your way to the Hollowed Ossuary and search for Lord Avitus and put him down for good regardless of what form he has taken.

How To Get The Dread Martyr Quest?

The Dead Martyr Side Quest can be obtained while you are exploring the Olyam Tundra as you will find the wounded Sir Cromwell on the ground. (Marked by a Side Quest pin)

The Dread Martyr Quest ObjectivesSlaying Lord Avitus

1) Enter the Hollowed Ossuary

You will need to begin by making your way to the Hallowed Ossuary, which is where Lord Avitus was last seen slaughtering Sir Cromwell’s men.

The location of the Hollowed Ossuary will be marked by a pin and you can follow it (located in Lonely Drifts) until you find the entrance.

2) Slay Lord Avitus

If this is your first time entering the dungeon, the Animus Carriers will be around and you may encounter some as you head for Lord Avitus.

Fight your way through the enemies in the Hallowed Ossuary until you reach Lord Avitus and slay him to complete the Side Quest.

The Dread Martyr Side Quest LocationThe Dread Martyr Location

The Dread Martyr Side Quest can be started by interacting with Sir Cromwell, who can be found northwest of Kyovashad.

You will find him just a few seconds away to the right of the Black Asylum dungeon and his marker should be visible once you are within the area.

The Dread Martyr Rewards

After slaying Lord Avitus, he will drop a Bloody Parchment (completing the quest) that can later be read for lore purposes and you will be rewarded with the following:

  • XP
  • Gold
  • 20 Fractured Peaks Renown
  • 1 Ore Cache

Verdict

It seems that the man previously known as Lord Avitus had been killed and reincarnated as a vampiric being, who ended up slaughtering Sir Cromwell’s men.

While Sir Cromwell was able to make it out, Lord Avitus had already done enough damage, leaving him lifeless as you made your way to the Hallowed Ossuary.

Now that Lord Avitus has been put down, there is one less horror in the world but at this point, there will be no use returning to Sir Cromwell as it looks like his fate had already been sealed.
