Diablo 4: New Horadric Crafting Recipes (New Recipes and Runeword Recipes)

Season of Hell’s Legacy expands the Horadric Cube with new recipes that provide additional ways to modify equipment and make use of the Runes you collect.

Two new crafting recipes have been added directly to the Cube, while the existing Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe has also received an important change in Season 15.

Several hidden recipes have also been discovered, allowing you to upgrade Runes and create powerful Runeword Items based on equipment from previous Diablo games.

New Horadric Cube Recipes

The two new Horadric Cube recipes added in Season 15 are Affix Value Reroll and Horadric Reroll, with both providing additional ways to change the affixes found on your items.

While both recipes involve rerolling affixes, they work differently and can be used on different types of equipment.

Affix Value Reroll

Affix Value Reroll allows you to reroll all of the base affixes found on equipment, Charms, and Seals without removing several important modifications already applied to them.

Greater Affixes, Enchanted Affixes, Tempers, and Transfigurations are protected when using the recipe, although a Transfigured item cannot be used once it becomes Unmodifiable.

This makes Affix Value Reroll useful when an item already has several desirable properties but its remaining base affix values could still be improved.

Horadric Reroll

Horadric Reroll can be used on Legendary or higher Charms and Seals, completely randomizing their base affixes without affecting certain properties you may want to keep.

Set Bonuses and Unique or Mythic Charm powers remain unchanged, while Set Bonus Affixes found on Seals are also protected from the reroll.

This gives you another option for improving a Charm or Seal when its existing base affixes are undesirable without sacrificing the more important properties of the item.

Upgrade Direct Item To Mythic Changes

The existing Upgrade Direct Item to Mythic recipe has also been changed in Season 15, making the result considerably more predictable than before.

Using the recipe now performs a 1:1 transfer, turning the item you place into the Cube into its Mythic version while retaining its existing affixes, Tempering, and Masterworking.

An Unmodifiable item cannot be used with this recipe, and Mythic items created this way receive the Crafted tag, which limits you to equipping one Crafted item at a time.

New Rune Upgrade Recipes

Several hidden Horadric Cube recipes have also been discovered that allow you to combine duplicate Runes, with some higher upgrades requiring an additional Gem.

There are currently 14 known Rune upgrade recipes, forming two separate upgrade chains that eventually lead to Sol and Jah.

These recipes also give duplicate Runes another purpose, particularly when working toward the specific Runes required for the new Runeword Items.

What Are Runeword Items?

Runeword Items are different from the normal Runewords created by socketing one Ritual Rune and one Invocation Rune into the same piece of equipment.

Instead, these recipes combine a Common-quality base item with a specific group of Runes inside the Horadric Cube, producing a named Unique item.

Several of these items recreate familiar Diablo II Runewords, including Stealth, Spirit, Enigma, Grief, Infinity, and Call to Arms.

All Runeword Item Recipes

There are currently 19 known Runeword Item recipes, with each requiring the correct Common-quality base item and Rune combination before it can be created.

Some recipes support several different base weapon types, with the resulting Runeword Item retaining the weapon type used for the recipe.

How To Craft Runeword Items?

Start by obtaining a Common-quality version of the required equipment, along with every Rune listed by the recipe you want to create.

Place the base item and required Runes into the Horadric Cube, then transmute the ingredients to create the corresponding Runeword Item.

For example, combining Tal and Eth with Common Chest Armor creates Stealth, while Jah, Ith, and Ber with Common Chest Armor creates Enigma.

Are Runeword Items The Same As Runewords?

Runeword Items should not be confused with Diablo 4’s standard Runeword system, despite both mechanics using Runes.

A normal Runeword is created by socketing one Ritual Rune and one Invocation Rune into equipment, with the Ritual generating Offering that activates the Invocation effect. Your existing Runewords guide already covers this system.

Runeword Items instead use several predetermined Runes and a Common base item as Horadric Cube ingredients, producing an entirely new piece of equipment.

Verdict

Season 15 gives the Horadric Cube several new uses, ranging from better control over equipment affixes to upgrading Runes and creating hidden Runeword Items.

Affix Value Reroll and Horadric Reroll expand the Cube’s normal crafting options, while the updated Mythic recipe makes upgrading a valuable Unique much more predictable.

The hidden Rune and Runeword Item recipes add another layer to the system, making duplicate Runes and Common equipment worth checking before you decide to get rid of them.
