If you have come across a Silent Chest while out exploring Sanctuary, you might be wondering how to open it as the only clue is that it needs a Whispering Key.
Whispering Keys are a type of consumable that is used for opening Silent Chests which are described to be fragmented whispers of long-forgotten secrets.
Obtaining it is quite easy as long as you have the currency to purchase it and know where to find the NPC that sells it.
How To Get Whispering Keys?
To get Whispering Keys, you will first need to have some Murmuring Obols, which are often obtained as you play the game and are shared between your characters.
Murmuring Obols can be obtained by completing Events that occur all over Sanctuary and one Event is more than enough to get you a Whispering Key.
You can purchase a Whispering Key from a Purveyor of Curiosities, which can be found in most towns as they are the NPCs that offer the Gamble feature.
Whispering Key Uses
Whispering Keys are used only for opening Silent Chests and upon opening one, the key will be consumed, rewarding you with certain drops.
Silent Chests will often drop weapons, armor, Gold, and more depending on how lucky you can get as these are random rewards.
For each Silent Chest that you open, a Whispering Key will be consumed, which makes it a good idea to have at least 1 or 2 with you just in case.
Is The Whispering Key Worth It?
If you are wondering, if the Whispering Key is worth it, this depends on what you get as the drops will mostly be random from the Silent Chests, which some refer to as Whispering Chests.
Obtaining 20 or more Murmuring Obols is not hard to do and should not be a challenge as there are always events you can join.
The best thing to do is to be ready if you find a Silent Chest, the rewards may surprise you every once in a while.
