Diablo 4 has gone through several changes throughout the many seasons, and one thing we noticed is that Obducite has become quite a challenge for some players to farm.
As an important part of upgrading your equipment, Obducite stands as a material that you will need a lot of, especially once you start to finalize your items.
While it seems the drops for this material might have been reduced, as reported by some players, farming Obducite is still doable with ease as long as you know where to get it.
How To Get Obducite?
1) Nightmare Dungeons
One of the earliest methods for farming Obducite is Nightmare Dungeons, and while you won’t always get a lot, the faster you can complete these, the more you can get.
Obducite can drop from enemies that you defeat in Nightmare Dungeons, making it a good idea to clear out enemies quickly and progress to the dungeon boss.
Not only do the enemies you encounter drop this material, but the boss at the end of the dungeon also has a good chance to drop more, which can get you around 30 to 80 per run most of the time.
2) Kurast Undercity (Tribute of Refinement)
One of the best ways to get Obducite is from the Kurast Undercity, but what some players may not understand is that the rewards are often different and rely mostly on the Tribute that you use.
When it comes to Obducite, you will want to use the Tribute of Refinement to open the portal, which will allow you to get tons of Obducite from the run after the boss is defeated. (Around 200 – 400)
Enemies that you slay along the way do not provide drops as they only come after defeating the boss, and it is important that you focus on attunement along the way to make the most out of the run.
3) Infernal Hordes (Choose Obducite Chest)
A drastic change seems to have been made to the Infernal Hordes because back then, you could get a ton of Obducite by spending your Burning Aether on the Spoils of Materials chest.
It seems Obducite now drops in smaller numbers, but this is still quite useful, and to make things better, there is a chance to get multiple Tribute of Refinement, which is good for the Kurast Undercity.
With the Infernal Hordes, you can get Obducite from the Spoils of Materials chest and later do the Kurast Undercity activity to use your Tribute of Refinement to get a lot of this material.
Obducite Uses
Obducite is used when you are Masterworking your equipment, which allows you to improve the quality of your items to a maximum of 25.
Each time you upgrade, the quality of your items can often be increased by 1 to 5, most of the time or more, providing the item with an increase in stats.
Upon reaching the maximum of 25, you can upgrade the item once more to Masterwork, a random affix, which significantly boosts it higher than the rest.
After an item has been maxed out and has had an affix Masterworked, you can once again use Obducite to reroll the Masterworked Affix to try your luck at another random one.
Verdict
Kurast Undercity is the best way to farm Obducite if you have a Tribute of Refinement, since it gives the biggest return from a single run and can save you a lot of time.
Nightmare Dungeons are still a decent option when you want a steady source of Obducite, especially if you can clear them fast and run several of them over a short period.
Infernal Hordes are worth doing as well because they can still give Obducite and may also help you get more Tribute of Refinement for better farming later.
