If you plan on heading into the Hall of the Penitent to challenge Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint, you will want to make sure that you grab Living Steel first.
Living Steel is a Lair Boss Key that was previously a Boss Summoning Material but this changed when Season 8: Belial’s Return went live, introducing the Lair Reworks.
Players who wish to obtain rewards after defeating Grigoire will need to have Living Steel as this is required to open his Hoard Chest.
How To Get Living Steel?
Once you have reached Torment I or higher difficulty and have changed the world tier to it, Living Steel can be obtained by defeating special enemies or completing certain activities.
The best ways to get Living Steel would be to open chests in the Helltide (defeating some enemies may provide this Lair Boss Key as well) and do the Kurast Undercity activity with Tribute of Titans.
Other ways for you to obtain Living Still are by opening Tree of Whisper Caches, defeating world bosses, and purchasing them through Mercenary Bartering at The Den.
Living Steel Uses
Defeating Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint will cause his Hoard Chest to appear, which replaced the original boss rewards after the Lair Boss Rework in Season 8.
To open Grigoire’s Hoard Chest, you will need to have 12 Living Steel, which will be consumed to provide you with several loot and some of these may include uniques from the following table:

Barbarian |

Druid |

Necromancer |

Sorcerer |

Verdict
Living Steel is one of the easiest of the Lair Boss Keys to obtain and once you are on Torment I, you can easily farm a ton of them in Helltide and other activities.
Unlike in the previous seasons, Living Steel is no longer required to summon Grigoire but instead, you will need this Lair Boss Key to obtain valuable rewards from his Hoard Chest.
Regardless if you can defeat Grigoire or not, the only time your Living Steel will be consumed is if you open the Hoard Chest and the rewards become better with higher difficulty tiers.
