Diablo 4: Grigoire (Location, Summon, Loot & Defeating)

Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint is an Initiate Lair Boss that players will encounter as they progress through Diablo 4’s endgame and Lair Boss ladder.

He serves as a recurring endgame target that provides valuable Unique Items and other rewards tied to his specific loot table, making him a consistent farming option.

Defeating Grigoire allows you to open his Hoard with a Lair Key, making him an important part of early boss progression and farming.

Grigoire Location (Hall of the Penitent)

Grigoire can be found within the Hall of the Penitent, which can be found in the Dindai Flats in the Dry Steppes region.

The closest locations to the Hall of the Penitent are Ked Bardu (located to the north) and The Onyx Watchtower. (Located to the east)

You can now fast travel directly to the Hall of the Penitent by selecting it on your map.

Summoning and Defeating Grigoire

Grigoire is summoned at the Light-Touched Altar inside the Hall of the Penitent, where players must first clear the surrounding chamber before the encounter begins.

Once summoned, he briefly pauses before fully engaging, giving you a short window to prepare your positioning and defensive cooldowns.

His attacks primarily revolve around lightning slams, charged projectiles, and area bursts that spread across the arena in predictable patterns.

As the fight progresses, Grigoire begins activating environmental lightning traps that force movement while he continues applying pressure with heavier attacks.

Minions may also appear during the encounter, but they are secondary threats and should be cleared only when they interfere with your positioning.

Maintaining mobility and avoiding electrified zones is key, and once Grigoire’s health is depleted, his Hoard will appear for looting.

How To Open Grigoire’s Hoard Chest?

Defeating Grigoire will cause his Hoard to appear and once available, you will be able to open it using a Lair Key.

Opening Grigoire’s Hoard requires 1 Lair Key, which is consumed when used and applies to all Initiate Lair Boss Hoards.

Verdict

Grigoire starts as a fairly straightforward Initiate Lair Boss, but the fight becomes more challenging as his health gets lower and additional hazards begin to stack up.

Most of his attacks are predictable and can be avoided with good timing, allowing you to maintain steady damage throughout most of the encounter.

As the fight progresses, lightning traps and area pressure increase, making mobility and positioning more important as the arena becomes increasingly dangerous.
