Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint is one of the Initiate Bosses that you face as you progress through the different seasons of Diablo 4.
Known as the Galvanic Saint, this large knight with lightning powers can be challenged to obtain valuable loot once you reach Torment I and higher difficulties.
You will however need to bring Living Steel with you as this is needed to open the Hoard Chest that appears when it drops.
Grigoire Location (Hall of the Penitent)
Grigoire can be found within the Hall of the Penitent, which can be found in the Dindai Flats in the Dry Steppes region.
The closest locations to the Hall of the Penitent are Ked Bardu (located to the north) and The Onyx Watchtower. (Located to the east)
You can fast travel to the Hall of the Penitent by selecting it on your map.
Summoning and Defeating Grigoire
Once you enter the Hall of the Penitent, make your way to the Chamber of Penitence and interact with the Light-Touched Altar to summon Grigoire.
Before the Galvanic Saint appears, you will need to avoid the lightning traps in the area before you and any companions have been knocked back.
Grigoire has a fixed set of attacks, which mainly include slamming the ground around him to cause lightning to strike in random areas or sending out waves of charged bolts.
These can easily be avoided and once you start to reduce his health, he will begin to summon minions, but these can be easily defeated.
After more health has been reduced, Grigoire will activate the traps in the area now and then, causing electricity to travel from one pylon to another and certain tiles to be lit up.
You will need to avoid these traps, defeat the minions, and continue dealing damage to Grigoire and will eventually be able to defeat him.
Grigoire’s attacks mainly deal lightning damage, which makes it worth the trouble to boost up your lightning resistance for better survivability in the fight.
It is possible to defeat Grigoire before the next phases of the fight begin, allowing you to defeat him before he can even summon minions or activate the lightning traps.
How To Open Grigoire’s Hoard Chest?
Defeating Grigoire will cause his Hoard Chest to appear and once available, you will be able to open it using Living Steel.
Opening Grigoire’s Hoard will require 12 Living Steel each time you attempt to open it after defeating him, providing you with various rewards.

Verdict
Grigoire is not that hard to deal with, but you should still watch out for the lighting pylons around the area as well as the tiles that are being imbued with lighting.
Using an Elixir of Lightning Resistance is a good way of boosting your protection against the damage that Grigoire can deal, allowing you to focus more on dealing damage.
Having good mobility as well as ways to quickly move around the boss fight area will help you avoid Grigoire’s attacks but if your character is durable, you can tank most of the damage.
