Diablo 4 Harbinger of Hatred (Location, Summoning, Fight & Loot Table)

Those who have completed the Vessel of Hatred Campaign may remember some of the more iconic bosses that were added to Diablo 4 with its first expansion.

One of these bosses is the Harbinger of Hatred, which serves as one of the endgame ladder bosses classified as a Greater Lair Boss.

The Harbinger of Hatred can be a tough opponent to eat but once you come out victorious, you will be able to access its hoard for riches, if you manage to defeat the beast.

Harbinger of Hatred Location (Harbinger’s Den)

Those who have the Vessel of Hatred Expansion will be able to challenge the Harbinger of hatred at the Harbinger’s Den. (Boss Lair)

This dungeon is located in the Lingering Hatred within the region of Nahantu and is closest to the Kurast Docks. (Harbinger’s Den is to the west of the Kurast Docks)

You can fast travel to the Harbinger’s Den by selecting it on your map.

Summoning and Defeating Harbinger of Hatred

Upon entering the Harbinger’s Den, you will need to travel to the Lair of Loathing and interact with the Altar of Hatred.

The fight begins with the Harbinger of Hatred summoning wolves before they join in the battle and this can make things dangerous as this boss has techniques that it has mastered.

Damaging the Harbinger of Hatred will force it to open up portals, which you must destroy before fighting the Harbinger of Hatred again.

Watch out for the different attacks that the boss may unleash and be careful when it marks an area where it will charge at. (This can instantly kill you)

Continue the process of damaging the Harbinger of Hatred until you defeat it and this will cause its Hoard Chest to appear.

How To Open Harbinger of Hatred’s Hoard Chest?

After defeating the Harbinger of Hatred, a closing chest called the Harbinger of Hatred’s Hoard will appear and may be unlocked using Abhorrent Hearts.

A total of 3 Abhorrent Hearts will be needed for each Harbinger of Hatred’s Hoard that you wish to open, which provides you with valuable rewards.

Verdict

Obtaining Abhorrent Hearts is necessary to obtain equipment and other types of loot but finding these Lair Boss Keys should be your first take.

The rewards table from the Harbinger of Hatred’s seems to be a more specific collection of uniques but it is still important to be prepared to take on the boss.

Since the Harbinger of Hatred is a Greater Lair Boss, you only need a certain number of Abhorrent Hearts to open its hoard.
