Those who have completed the Vessel of Hatred Campaign may remember some of the more iconic bosses that were added to Diablo 4 with its first expansion.
One of these is the Harbinger of Hatred, a Greater Lair Boss that sits within the endgame ladder and offers valuable rewards through its Hoard.
The Harbinger of Hatred is a dangerous opponent with heavy pressure mechanics, making it a demanding but rewarding fight for prepared players.
Harbinger of Hatred Location (Harbinger’s Den)
Those who have the Vessel of Hatred expansion can challenge the Harbinger of Hatred at the Harbinger’s Den (Boss Lair).
This dungeon is located in Lingering Hatred within the region of Nahantu and is closest to Kurast Docks, with the entrance positioned to the west.
You can fast travel directly to the Harbinger’s Den by selecting it on your map.
Summoning and Defeating Harbinger of Hatred
Upon entering the Harbinger’s Den, proceed to the Lair of Loathing and interact with the Altar of Hatred to begin the encounter.
The Harbinger of Hatred opens the fight by summoning wolves that assist in pressuring the player while the boss continues its main attack patterns.
As the fight progresses, the Harbinger will open portals that must be destroyed before continuing the damage phase.
Watch for marked charge attacks, as these can deal lethal damage if not avoided, especially when space becomes restricted.
Continue managing adds, destroying portals, and maintaining damage until the Harbinger of Hatred is defeated and its Hoard appears.
How To Open Harbinger of Hatred’s Hoard Chest?
After defeating the Harbinger of Hatred, its Hoard will appear and can be opened to claim rewards from its loot table.
Opening the Hoard requires 1 Greater Lair Boss Key, which is consumed upon use and is required for all Greater Lair Boss Hoards.

The Harbinger of Hatred is a Greater Lair Boss that rewards careful positioning and awareness more than raw aggression, especially during its portal and add phases.

With good movement and awareness of charge attacks, the Harbinger of Hatred becomes a manageable but still dangerous encounter with strong rewards.
