How To Get Forgotten Gods Quest?
The Forgotten Gods Quest begins after the Darkening Clouds Quest, which had you attempting to communicate with Ah Bulan.
This failed horribly as Ah Bulan only replied with screams of pain while Hollows began to converge on your location, leaving you to find another way.

Forgotten Gods Walkthrough 
You will need to begin by making your way to Maka and speaking to her about what to do next, which results in her instructing you to find artifacts related to Ah Bulan.
An area will be marked and you will need to head to the location and search for a Cave Painting that you may interact with.
After checking out the Cave Painting, you will need to head over to the next location marked on your map where the spirit portal may be found and clear out the Lacuni in the area.
Forgotten Gods Rewards
Once the Lacuni in the area has been cleared out, the Forgotten Gods Quest will be complete and you will be rewarded with XP and Gold.
This will allow you to continue with the next quest called Across The Threshold where Maka and Eru will help you prepare to enter the Spirit Realm.
Verdict
The lands have been smothered with Lacuni but you were able to fight passed them and locate a path that will take you to the spirit realm.
With the help of Maka and Eru, you will be able to enter but this requires painful preparation before you may proceed.
It is only a matter of time before you will be able to find Ah Bulan and seek his help to rid Neyrelle of the infliction caused by Mephisto’s Soulstone.
