Belial, Lord of Lies is an endgame boss that was introduced in Diablo 4’s Season 8: Belial’s Return and once again reigns terror upon Sanctuary.
During the Seasonal Campaign in Season 8, you eventually defeat this boss but don’t exactly get rid of him but can later challenge him again as many times as you wish.
Defeating Belial in the Palace of the Deceiver and opening his Hoard Chest will provide you with the chance to get valuable loot as long as you have the required Lair Boss Keys to use.
Belial Location (Palace of the Deceiver)
Belial, Lord of Lies may be summoned in the Palace of the Deceiver, which can be found in the Amber Sands within the region of Kehjistan.
One of the closest waypoints to the Palace of the Deceiver is at Tarsarak, which can be found to the east of the dungeon.
You can fast travel to the Palace of the Deceiver by selecting it on your map.
Summoning and Defeating Belial
Once you have entered the Palace of the Deceiver, you will need to make your way to the Sanctum of Lies and interact with the Deceitful Altar to summon him.
Belial will constantly attack you with the same attacks often and these are easy to dodge but once wrong move can end up with you instantly dying.
Make sure to avoid Belial’s attacks while also dealing damage to him until you completely deplete all of his health.
You will need to keep an eye out for some of his more dangerous attacks, such as him summoning his eyes that shoot in a cone in front of them. (Move to the area in front of the eye that doesn’t glow)
When Belial is about to take a large swing or slam the ground, it is necessary to dodge his attack as this can often kill you with a single hit.
Belial may also unleash a continuous breath of corruption that starts from one side and continues toward the other but you can dodge through it or rush to the end to avoid being damaged.
Once you have managed to avoid his attacks and eventually defeat him, a Hoard Chest (Belial’s Hoard) will appear nearby and may be opened for rewards.
How To Open Belial’s Hoard Chest?
Once Belial has been defeated, his Hoard Chest will appear nearby and will require Betrayer’s Husks to be opened for its rewards.
You will need 2 Betrayer’s Husks, which are obtained from Belial when he ambushes you in other Boss Lairs. (He has to be defeated when this happens)

Belial Loot Table (Season 8)
Opening Belial’s Hoard won’t cause items to drop right away and instead, a menu will appear that allows you to open the chest or modify the rewards.
Modifying the rewards will allow you to choose Boss Loot from other Lair Bosses but the rewards will be better and will have guaranteed Ancestral Unique Items.
Opening the Hoard Chest will also have a chance to reward you with Mythic Unique Items, making Belial one of the best endgame bosses for better loot.
You may choose Boss Loot from the following bosses:
- Andariel
- Duriel
- Grigoire
- Harbinger of Hatred
- Lord Zir
- Beast in the Ice
- Urivar
- Varshan
Verdict
Belial, Lord of Lies is a tough boss to beat if you have not yet gotten used to his attack patterns but later on, he can easily be defeated as long as you can deal a good amount of damage.
Waiting for Belial to attack and evade is important but making sure that you get hits in now and then will speed things up and allow you to farm loot from his hoard faster.
Unlike the other Lair Bosses that you may have faced, Belial does not seem to change when his health is lowered and will continuously repeat the same attacks.
