Belial, Lord of Lies is an Exalted Tier Lair Boss that was introduced in Season 8: Belial’s Return and remains one of the highest-end encounters in Diablo 4’s boss ladder.
He represents a more advanced boss tier with stronger rewards, more control over loot targeting, and a unique Hoard system compared to other Lair Bosses.
Defeating Belial allows access to his Hoard, which requires a specific Exalted Lair Boss Key and offers curated reward selection from multiple boss loot pools.
Belial Location (Palace of the Deceiver)
Belial, Lord of Lies can be summoned in the Palace of the Deceiver, located in the Amber Sands within Kehjistan.
The closest waypoint is Tarsarak, which sits east of the dungeon entrance and provides the fastest access route.
You can fast travel directly to the Palace of the Deceiver by selecting it on your map.
Summoning and Defeating Belial
After entering the Palace of the Deceiver, proceed to the Sanctum of Lies and interact with the Deceitful Altar to summon Belial and begin the encounter.
Belial relies on repeated burst attacks, wide cone eye blasts, and heavy single-hit slams that can punish slow reactions.
His eye attacks create dangerous cone zones that must be avoided by positioning outside the glowing area.
He also uses sweeping melee strikes and corruption breath attacks that move across the arena and require quick repositioning or dodging through gaps.
As the fight continues, Belial repeats his core attack patterns at higher pressure, forcing consistent movement and damage uptime until he is defeated.
How To Open Belial’s Hoard Chest?
After defeating Belial, his Hoard will appear and can be opened using Husk of the Betrayer, Belial’s Exalted Lair Boss Key.
Opening the Hoard requires 2 Husk of the Betrayer, which are consumed upon use and are required for each Hoard opening.
Unlike other Lair Boss Hoards, interacting with Belial’s Hoard allows you to select rewards from other boss loot pools, giving you targeted control over the drops you want.

Belial Loot Table (Season 13)
Opening Belial’s Hoard allows you to choose loot from other Lair Boss loot tables, instead of a fixed drop pool.
You may select Boss Loot from the following bosses:
- Andariel
- Duriel
- Grigoire
- Harbinger of Hatred
- Lord Zir
- Beast in the Ice
- Urivar
- Varshan
- Astaroth
Verdict
Belial punishes mistakes hard, especially when you get clipped by his eye attacks, slams, or wide corruption swings.
Most deaths come from getting caught out of position or failing to react fast enough to his burst attacks, which makes it important to focus and also gear up before challenging this boss.
His fight doesn’t change much once it starts, but his Hoard makes him one of the best bosses for targeting specific loot from other Lair Bosses using Husk of the Betrayer.
