Upon returning to The Tree of Whispers, Gelena informs you that the location of Ouna has been revealed by the previous head who had been brought back.
Caidin has rushed off to find Ouna at the wastes (Valtha’s Hovel) and the two of you must go after him.
The time to confront Ouna is at hand and whatever ritual she has planned must be stopped as the lives of thousands depend on it.
A Witch’s Choice Quest Walkthrough
Head to The Tree of Whispers and speak to Gelena, who informs you about where Caidin has gone off to, and afterward, make your way to VAltha’s Hovel.
Valtha’s Hovel is to the west of The Tree of Whispers and you can travel there using your mount if you have no nearby waypoints available.
Once you reach the location, speak with Caidin and a cutscene will begin where you are instructed to destroy the Shrouding Charms nearby.
There will be two Shrouding Charms, one located to the east of Galena and Caiden and another one found to the north of them.
After both of the Shrouding Charms have been destroyed, the entrance to the Hidden Ritual Site will be revealed and you may then enter it.
Upon reaching the inside of the Hidden Ritual Site, you will find that the whole area is completely overgrown and this is because of what Ouna has been doing.
Together with Caidin and Gelena, you must proceed further into the dungeon by pushing your way through the overgrowth.
Upon reaching a blocked path, Gelena and Caidin will stay behind to open up the way and once they have done this, you will proceed and confront Ouna.
Reaching Ouna will reveal that she has failed her ritual, which was meant to free the heads from the Tree of Whispers but this caused the Rot to spill out of the wounds.
Ouna realizes that her goal cannot be completed and asks you to help her return the heads to the Tree of Whispers, meaning all of the Exposed Roots need to be destroyed.
The Exposed Roots in the area will burst open, releasing Headrotten enemies that you will need to defeat until none are left.
The last Exposed Root will unleash a Cunning Headless Husk, which is hinted to be Fal’thane as Ouna cries out to him.
Upon defeating the Cunning Headless Husk, the other witches will arrive and you will need to speak to Caidin to proceed with the quest.
Speak to Caidin to start a short cutscene where he storms off and afterward, talking to Ouna will start another cutscene that later ends the quest.
A Witch’s Choice Quest Rewards
Once you have spoken to Ouna and the cutscene has ended, A Witch’s Choice will be complete and you will be rewarded with XP and Gold.
Additionally, you will receive a Gem Cache and a Murmuring Cache along with a piece of equipment based on your current level.
During our run of this season, we obtained an Edgemaster’s Spirit Quarterstaff (Legendary Quarterstaff) upon completion of this quest.
Verdict
Ouna made her choice and went against The Tree of Whispers and as it has been said, the tree does not forgive or forget and ravens appeared in the hideout.
Caidin stormed off as he knew the ravens had come for Ouna’s head even if she was still alive, which was a hint that someone had to put an end to her life.
After Caidin storms off, Gelena and Ouna head out together as they plan on sitting together where they may have their last conversation.
