While in Gea Kul, you are called by a mysterious woman who is later revealed to be named TeyanAnd she urges you to speak with you.
Upon talking to Teyana, she explains that she was sent to find you and ask for your help with their research involving new magic that can be used to fight the demons in Sanctuary.
Teyana requests that you meet with her and her colleague in The Umbral Study, where more will be revealed about this strange new magic that they are working on.
How To Get A Taste of Power Quest?
A Taste of Power automatically begins once you log in with a character in Season 12, making it an introductory quest for the season and a filler for the gap before the Lord of Hatred Expansion.
In this Seasonal Quest, you are introduced to some of the features that are added in Season 12, which are mainly the Shrine of Slaughter and Slaughterhouse.
A Taste of Power Quest Walkthrough
After speaking with Teyana, head to The Umbral Study, which is where you will find Teyana and Khulrami, who you will now speak with.
Khulrami will talk about the magic he has been working on and will indulge you into activating the Shrine of Slaughter, which turns you into The Butcher for a short duration.
During this time as The Butcher, you will need to slay enemies that begin to appear until the effects eventually wear off and you return to your normal form.
This will act as a tutorial for the Butcher’s Helltide, which explains that you can find these Shrines of Slaughter in Helltide Zones and activate them to slaughter enemies as The Butcher.
After learning about the Shrine of Slaughter, your next move will be to head to a Helltide Zone and search for one of these shrines in the area.
Interact with the Shrine of Slaughter to turn into The Butcher once more and proceed with your killing spree while also collecting the Demon Blood that drops from enemies.
As The Butcher, killing enemies will also cause Fresh Meat to drop, which is a currency used to purchase items from Kael Rills (The Butcher) in Gea Kul.
Once you have collected enough Demon Blood, head back to The Umbral Study in Gea Kul and speak with Khulrami once more to continue.
Khulrami will provide you with a Slaughterhouse Key, which you will now need to use to activate a Slaughterhouse (Dungeon) that needs to be completed.
Use the key from your inventory in the Dungeon Keys section and enter the Slaughterhouse, where you take the form of The Butcher once more.
Defeat as many enemies as you can before the timer runs out or until you have slain enough enemies, which will cause the bosses to appear.
Head back to Gea Kul and speak to the vendor (Kael Rills) and speak to him to open his menu, but even if you don’t buy anything, the next objective will appear.
Head back to The Umbral Study, and as you make your way there, you encounter Teyana, whom you will now need to speak with.
Teyana informs you that Khulrami has begun to experiment on himself, which prompts you to follow him through a portal in The Umbral Study.
Speak to Khulrami once you head through the portal, and he will transform into a variation of The Butcher, whom you must now defeat.
After defeating The Butcher, speak to Teyana to complete the quest, which should now have you familiarized with the majority of the features added in Season 12.
A Taste of Power Seasonal Quest Rewards
Completing A Taste of Power will reward you with XP and Gold, along with a Bloodied Cache, which provides you with Fresh Meat, Bloodied Items, a Slaughterhouse Key, and more.
This serves as an introduction to what you will experience in the season and makes everything now available for you to explore.
Certain features in Season 12 will, however, require that you are on Nightmare or higher difficulties, and once you are done with this quest, the real fun may now begin.

Your intent on helping out with Khulrami’s research was noble, but it turns out that he was just using you to harness the new magic for himself.
Luckily, you were able to stop him in time, but Teyana believes that this will not be the last time you will encounter the madman.
