As you make your way through to the core of Nessus in the Encore Exotic Quest, you stumble upon several secrets and one of them is a pair of Batadactyls.
Failsafe becomes fond of these creatures and requires your help to gather data and learn more about these creatures.
It is expected that Failsafe would be fond of them just like another species you found previously and this time you will need to look around in Nessus to provide them with the perfect habitat.
How To Get Specimen ID: NES009 Quest?
You can get the Specimen ID: NES009 quest from Failsafe after you have returned from the Encore: Coda Exotic Mission after collecting a pair of Batadactyls.
They can be found in the Refraction Construct, which is accessed through the third portal (right side) from the portal hub accessible from the Ishtar Research Facility.
You will find the Batadactyls on top of the table that becomes accessible once the barriers have gone down after you complete the puzzle.
The Ishtar Research Facility is the room that you pass by before heading into the area where you fight with the Choral Mind. (Before the boss fight)
Specimen ID: NES009 Quest Steps
Step 1: Collect seeds from Data Lattice found on Nessus
Data Lattice is the Destination Material of Nessus and you can find this as you explore the different areas on the planet.
Interacting with 1 Data Lattice will provide you with 1 Data Seed and there is a chance for you to obtain seeds from opening chests as well.

Step 2: Collect Tree Branches from the treetops of Nessus
Your next step is to collect Tree Branches for the Batadactyls that you have found which can also be done on Nessus.
Launching these parts from the quest will allow you to travel directly to the area and you will see the Tree Branches that you can collect are marked by waypoints.

Step 3: Speak with Suraya Hawthorne in the Tower about avian care
Failsafe believes that speaking to Suraya Hawthorne is the best way to figure out how to take care of the Batadactyls.
You will need to head over to the Bazaar at The Tower and speak to Suraya to learn more about avian care before heading back to Failsafe.

Step 4: Speak with Failsafe in the H.E.L.M. to review her final specimen analysis report
Now that you have gotten all the necessary materials and have learned about avian care from Hawthorne, make your way back to Failsafe to review her report.

Step 5: Travel to the H.E.L.M. and give Babata and Petris a new home in your specimen collection
Failsafe has concluded her research and would like you to display the specimens, that she has named Babata and Petris in the H.E.L.M.
Head over to the marked location and interact with the waypoint to place the new home for your specimens.

Specimen ID: NES009 Quest Rewards
Once you have placed Babata and Petris in their new home, the quest will be complete and you will have a new set of critters in the H.E.L.M.
During the quest, you will get an Ascendant Shard when Failsafe gives you the Batadactyls that you will be putting on display.
Summary
The Batadactyls that you have found were left in the Refraction Construct and probably abandoned but you figured out how to give them a new home.
Failsafe seems to be very intimate towards creatures from Nessus or any other place as a matter of fact and even wanted Babata and Petris to be their official ambassadors.
Now that you have provided these creatures with a new home in the H.E.L.M., you can now see them every time you visit the ship.
