While you continue putting pressure on Maya Sundaresh, you encounter a strange specimen in one of the portals that you go through the portal hub.
This glowing cube-like object emits a strange code-like power that you have brought back to Failsafe and she has yet to find a way to utilize it.
Failsafe will need your help with unlocking the secrets within the specimen, which will provide you with an advantage against Maya’s forces.
How To Get Specimen ID: NES008 Quest?
You can get the specimen that unlocks Specimen ID: NES008 in the room where you fight the Hexahedric Mind.
This can be done by accessing one of the portals in the hub but this boss cannot be attacked until you make your way to each of the marked cubes to destroy them.
Upon picking up the specimen (glowing vex cube), the next time you speak with Failsafe, you will be able to start the Specimen ID: NES008 quest.
Specimen ID: NES008 Quest Steps
Step 1: Defeat Vex with melee abilities or finishers to obtain their CPUs for study
Failsafe needs your help with uncovering the specimen’s properties and to do this, you will need to defeat Vex using melee abilities or your finishers.
The best way to do this is to use a subclass that may be used to continuously defeat enemies and head to a location where several Vex may be found.
You can do this in activities, lost sectors, and more depending on how many Vex will spawn and each one that you defeat with these conditions will drop a CPU.
- Collect 50 Vex CPUs
Step 2: Launch and complete Battleground Echoes without dying
Completing this quest requires that you start a Battleground Echoes activity but the catch is, you need to finish the mission without getting killed.
It may be necessary to gear up and avoid rushing into a tough fight as playing smart is the best way to avoid getting killed.
- Complete Battleground Echoes (Flawless)
Step 3: Defeat Vex with Void or Arc Damage in Encore Exotic Mission
Failsafe has figured out that the specimen you found contains protocols that allow its user to exert control over nearby Vex.
You are to start the Encore Exotic Mission and defeat Vex enemies using either Void or Arc damage, which may include weapon and ability damage.
- Void and/or Arc Final Blows (Reach 100% progress)
Step 4: Speak with Failsafe in the H.E.L.M. to review her final specimen analysis report
Failsafe has completed her work and would like you to review what she has worked on, which requires you to head over to the H.E.L.M. and speak to her.
- Review Failsafe’s Report
Step 5: Travel to the H.E.L.M. and place the Conflux Laser Core in your specimen collection
Now that Conflux Laser Core is good to go, Failsafe has given it to you and you may now place it among your other specimens.
- Display Specimen
Specimen ID: NES008 Quest Rewards
Completing the Specimen ID: NES008 quest unlocks the Conflux Laser Core, a powerful Vex stun cube in the Encore Exotic Mission, which can be activated by destroying cubes that you find.
Destroying the cubes found in the Encore Exotic Mission will temporarily stun nearby Vex combatants, giving you an advantage against them.
Summary
Specimen ID: NES008 was introduced in the second week of Act III and became available in the Encore Mission. (Concerto)
Utilizing the Choir of One is a good way to easily finish off the Vex due to its high damage and it counts as Void final blows.
Thanks to the Conflux Laser Core, you will be able to get the advantage over the Vex that you encounter, especially if there are several combatants in the area.
