Even with the losses that the Vanguard has suffered, the attack against The Witness continues and the final confrontation is about to begin.
Starting in The Maelstrom, you will now make your way to the fortress where The Witness was first created and take the fight to him.
Everyone has set out to take their approach to get a jump on The Witness and the battle that lies ahead will not be an easy one.

How To Get Iconoclasm Mission?
You will be able to start the Iconoclasm Mission once you have reached quest step 27 in The Final Shape main quest.
This happens after you had previously searched for Zavala and brought him back after the loss of his Ghost, Targe.
Iconoclasm Mission
The path heading to the fortress is a long one and you will need to make your way there by following the waypoint and traveling along the side of The Maelstrom.
As you continue to make your way to reach the inside of the fortress, you will start to encounter multiple enemies and you will need to fight your way through them.
Eventually, you will reach an entrance where a Tormentor will stand in your way and you will need to defeat it before you can make your way inside. (Prismatic Chest appears when defeated)
After claiming the rewards, make your way through until you reach the Sacrarium, which is where you need to continue until you reach a barrier.
Head to the side and there will be an orb that you can shoot that will provide you with the Shielded from Darkness buff before you proceed to the waypoint.
The next part of the mission involves fighting your way past multiple enemies until you eventually reach the area where The Witness is located.
You will eventually drop down to a room with multiple enemies and a large round sphere located at the back that is blocked by a barrier.
This requires that you destroy a splinter in the center of the room and drop down into a small pit-like dungeon where you will need to defeat Resonant Warders to have them drop glyphs.
Once Resonant Warders have been defeated, head back through the portal that appears and move to the glyphs like the ones that the warders dropped to nullify them.
This will spawn more enemies, including a boss named Eshkin’tuk, Witness’s Blessed and you will need to defeat them before you may proceed.
Grab the nearby chest after you have defeated the boss and follow the waypoint that leads you to the side of the circle and this takes you to the next area.
Continue making your way towards the waypoint and you will come across multiple areas where The Witness tries to mess with your mind.
The next area has a large gate that is blocked by a barrier and a boss called Dolgith, Blade of Reasoning will appear but it will be invulnerable.
To defeat this boss, you will need to fight the enemies on each side and destroy the Taken Blight, which will cause a Splinter to appear nearby.
Destroy the Splinter and a portal will appear that you will need to enter, which will bring you into a dungeon where you need to defeat more warders.
Inside the dungeon are orbs that can be shot to provide you with the Shielded from Darkness buff, that will keep you from taking damage.
Destroying the warders (there will be two) will allow you to see the glyphs that you need to nullify and once both have been defeated you can head back.
There will be 4 glyphs where Dolgith is waiting, and you will need to reach the two of them that appeared in the dungeon to make an Aegis appear.
Use the Aegis to deal damage until it is charged and afterward, you can use its charged attack to remove Dolgith’s shield.
This will allow you to damage Dolgith and once his health is reduced by half, you will need to repeat the previous steps to make him vulnerable again. (Dolgith becomes immune to damage again)
After Dolgith has been defeated, you can claim the rewards from a nearby chest, and after The Witness speaks to you, the path to the Ritual Site will be opened.
Continue making your way to the waypoint until you reach a large wall that you will have to scale by jumping from platform to platform and going through parts of it that have spaces to crawl through.
Once you are at the Ritual Site, The Witness will appear and will begin to attack you after threatening you and this is where the real fight begins.
The Witness will attack you from a distance and will be invulnerable and you will need to defeat the Subjugator to damage him.
Once a Subjugator’s health has been reduced, orbs will appear that you can use to become Shielded from Darkness and an Aegis will appear.
Pick up the Aegis and use it to remove the shield that protects the Subjugators so that you can continue damaging them until you defeat them.
There will be times when The Witness unleashes a powerful attack that damages the whole area, which requires you to use the Aegis to protect yourself.
When a Subjugator is defeated, a lock will appear at the base of where The Witness appears, and you will need to destroy it and enter the area within by interacting with it.
You will be brought into a room full of Dissenters, who tell you to destroy them, which deals damage to The Witness and this needs to be repeated.
Continue fighting the enemies, including the Subjugators and this will allow you to damage The Witness more until your allies appear and join you. (The sword will begin to appear more often)
The third time you destroy a Dissenter statue, the Witness will suffer damage to its health but things become all chaotic.
This causes you to go into a weakened state and the Vanguard decides to escape, which you will need to do by picking up an Aegis and holding its shield as you push your way through projectiles.
Continue making your way to the waypoint while holding up to shield to avoid being damaged until you reach the exit.
A cutscene will begin where the Vanguard escapes from The Witness and Mara Sov saves everyone from his clutches. (This ends with a cutscene)
Iconoclasm Rewards
Completing this mission allows you to progress further with The Final Shape main quest and provides you with XP.
You will be able to unlock a Prismatic Fragment by opening a Prismatic Chest found during the mission as well as multiple instances of loot from chests and enemies.
Later, continuing with the main quest in The Final Shape will allow you to obtain the Destined Heroes Exotic Quest, which is a part of the main quest. (Rewards Ergo Sum Exotic Sword)
Summary
The fight against The Witness was too much for the Vanguard but you were able to deal damage to him, which has given everyone hope.
Just when The Witness was going to unleash hell on you and your Allies, Mara Sov arrived and managed to get everyone out safely.
It is later revealed that Mara Sov had brought together different factions, who will now all contribute what they can to assist the Vanguard in taking down The Witness.
