How to Get Wolfsbane in Destiny 2

Wolfsbane is Destiny 2’s very first Exotic Axe (even though it is considered a sword) and provides a fun way for Guardians to destroy their enemies.

Featuring the ability to heal yourself, deal increased damage, and even create fiery tornadoes and more, these weapons can be perfect for playstyles that have you getting close to your enemies.

To make things even better, you can Shape and Reshape this weapon after unlocking its pattern to modify it and change its catalysts to adapt your build.

How To Get Wolfsbane?

Wolfsbane is a powerful Exotic Axe obtained by completing the Heliostat Exotic Mission, which officially became available to Guardians in early October 2025.

Completing Heliostat grants Wolfsbane alongside various rewards, offering a satisfying conclusion to the mission and introducing the first-ever axe weapon type in Destiny 2.

Obtaining another copy of this Exotic Axe will cost the following:

  • 3,000 Glimmer
  • 2 Enhancement Core

Wolfsbane Features

Heavy attacks with Wolfsbane send out a wave of flame that travels straight, while its light attacks are meant for charging up Nano-Assault.

Wolfsbane’s Nano-Assault (Trait) and Resurgence Directive (Intrinsic Trait) play a key role in making this weapon an outstanding tool for creating chaos.

Your melee attacks have a chance to heal you, and each hit you deal charges the Nano-Assault ability that the weapon has.

Once fully charged, activating Nano-Assault with the Reload button supercharges the Exotic Axe, making your light attacks deal more damage and your heavy attack capable of creating a fiery tornado.

Wolfsbane Perks

Honed Edge (Blade)

Wolfsbane has increased sword damage.

Jagged Edge (Blade)

This Exotic Axe has increased damage at the cost of sword ammo.

Tenacious Handle (Handle)

Traditional guarding is disabled in favor of offensive capabilities, providing greatly increased damage resistance from being in combat for an extended duration.

Nano-Assault (Trait)

Quicksilver nanites that attach to the wielder charge the blade. Press reload when fully charged to overclock the attached nanites, enhancing the blade’s offensive capabilities. Light attacks deal increased damage to the target, while fully charged heavy attacks create a flaming Quicksilver swarm-nado.

Wolfsbane Intrinsic Traits

Resurgence Directive

Light attacks generate Sword energy and have the chance to spawn seeking Quicksilver nanites that heal the wielder upon attaching.

This makes it possible to continue a fight while gaining survivability to make up for health that has been lost after taking damage.

Wolfsbane Catalyst

The Wolfsbane can make use of 4 different Catalysts, but they first need to be unlocked, which can be done in the Heliostat Exotic Mission.

The following are the Catalysts that may be unlocked for Wolfsbane:

  • Attrition Orbs Refit Dealing sustained damage creates an Orb of Power.
  • Relentless Strikes Refit – Landing three light-attack hits within a short time grants Sword ammo.
  • Burning Ambition Refit – Dealing sustained damage scorches the target. Dealing damage to a scorched target inflicts scorch.
  • Subroutine: ~Recursion – Quicksilver nanites grant more health the greater your stacks of Nano-Assault are. Taking damage while Nano-Assault is active has the chance to generate nanites nearby.

Verdict

Wolfsbane is a refreshing addition to Destiny 2, offering Guardians a new weapon type that feels powerful, unique, and surprisingly fun to master.

Its mix of self-healing, boosted damage, and fiery effects makes it a standout choice for players who enjoy close-range, fast-paced combat.

For those looking to shake up their loadouts, Wolfsbane delivers both style and substance, proving that Exotic Axes belong in every Guardian’s collection.
