Destiny 2 has a lot of secrets that you can find in some of the locations and missions and with the release of the Encore Exotic Quest, more is to be found.
There are a few Secret Chests that you can find and some of these are tied to obtaining upgrades for the Choir of One as well as other loot.
Finding these, however, requires you also to complete a few puzzles but once you get the hang of it and know where they can be found, everything else will be a piece of cake.
All Encore Chest Locations
1) Secret Chest 1 (Overture)
The first chest that you will find is located near the purple room that you reach after you have gone past the area that feels like an obstacle course.
Once you drop down to the purple room, you will need to take the path to the left to solve an easy puzzle located in the Ancillary Transit Nexus.
To start the puzzle, approach the Vex Conflux and interact with it and this will start a bit of dialogue before you can solve it.
There will be 4 cubes above where the conflux was and these need to be shot in the correct order, which is hinted by where a small cube is hovering below.
After you have shot the 4 cubes that appear above where the conflux was found, another 4 cubes will appear but this time at the portal doors.
You will need to repeat the process of shooting the cube that has a smaller cube below it and once all 4 have been destroyed in order, the Secret Chest will appear.
2) Secret Chest 2 (Overture)
After heading up a lift and arriving in a large area where you defeat enemies and use a Partition Module to open a path, you will eventually find a room with a Planetary Piston.
Once you reach the room with a Planetary Piston, you may interact with the Vex Conflux in the center of the area, and this will open a portal to the Portal Hub.
This will take you to a Portal Hub that gives you access to different portals that lead to challenges that you can complete to get open Secret Chests.
Entering the portal to your left will bring you to a jungle area where a Vex Conflux may be interacted with to start a timed challenge.
There will be multiple beams that point to plates scattered throughout the area and you can follow these faint beams to reach plates that have been hidden.
All the plates in the area will need to be destroyed within the time limit and once this is done, a chest will appear where you find the conflux.
3) Secret Chest 3 (Overture)
The third secret chest is found just before you enter the area where you fight the Choral Mind as there is a conflux just before you go down the stairs. (Ishtar Research Facility)
Interacting with the conflux will bring you to a room with portals and the one straight ahead will bring you to the Aberrant Code Containment room.
This room will have two Vex Access Modules that may be used to open portals that lead to certain rooms and you will know which one you will be brought to because of the beam above.
In each of the rooms, there will be nodes that need to be taken out and these should not be protected by other nodes.
You will need to observe where each of the nodes is and use the Access Modules to open the portals to them as fast as possible.
The nodes will replicate after their time is up but once all of them have been destroyed, a Secret Chest will appear in the room.
4) Secret Chest 4 (Concerto)
This Secret Chest was introduced after Overture and became available in the Encore: Concerto Exotic Quest and involves completing the first puzzle near the purple room.
Once you have opened the first Secret Chest, head to the room with the Planetary Piston and interact with the conflux and you will find a new portal. (Straight ahead after entering)
This will take you to the Aberrant Code Containment room but now a new challenge will be present that you need to complete to get the fourth chest.
There will be a cube near a Hexahedric Mind and you will need to pick it up and look above to see where the cube appears.
You will need to open a portal using a Vex Access Module to reach each portal to destroy a cube marked with a smaller cube before you can attack the Hexahedric Mind.
Repeat this step until the Hexahedric Mind is defeated and this will cause the fourth Secret Chest to appear. (Clearing this for the first time will allow you to obtain Specimen ID: NES008)
5) Secret Chest 5 (Concerto)
Another Secret Chest that was added to the Ancillary Transit Nexus was found after entering the portal in the Ishtar Research Facility.
Once you go through the portal and have entered the Ancillary Transit Nexus, head straight for the portal ahead of you to reach the Networked Simulation Archive.
You will find yourself in a cave where you need to find all the objects marked by the Unknown Proximity Signal and will begin by making your way to the very end.
Take a right and there will be a Deletion Module Bearer that you can defeat to open up the first blocked area that is to the left when you first enter the area.
Proceed with using the Deletion Module to open new areas within until you have come across all the objects in the first area.
This requires that you bring back another Deletion Module, open the last door and once you grab the object inside, the chest will appear at the entrance.
6) Secret Chest 6 (Coda)
Secret Chest 6 became available during the third week of A Rising Chorus Act III and can be accessed the same way you access Secret Chest 2.
You can find the conflux for Chest 6 in the same area where Chest 2 can be found and this is closer to the ruins above the core of Nessus.
Interacting with the conflux for Chest 6 will cause 3 Independent Variables (Vex Combatants) to spawn into the area.
These are the annoying Vex Combatants that teleport around similar to Minotaurs and can pack a punch if you let them get the upper hand.
You will have a minute and a half to defeat all of the Independent Variables and if successful, Secret Chest 6 will appear where the conflux was activated.
7) Secret Chest 7 (Coda)
Secret Chest 7 was also introduced with the Encore: Coda mission, which became the active Exotic Mission for A Rising Chorus: Act III in the third week.
This brings you into a large room where the ruins have been blocked off by a Vex barrier where nodes can be found.
You will need to defeat the enemies in the area and obtain the Vex Connection Modules to place them into the right nodes.
Enemies will appear and you will need to defeat the Uplifted Choral Minotaur to obtain its Arc Cranium, which will be used to shoot the plates to destroy the targets inside.
This needs to be repeated until all targets have been destroyed within the barrier, which will disperse it and reveal the secret chest within the area.
Verdict
The chests that can be found in Encore Overture and Encore Concerto are in the same locations and it was just that the new variant of this mission added more portals.
It is expected that in Week 3 of Echoes Act III, there will be additional Secret Chests that will fill in the other slots where portals are found.
Completing all of these will allow you to gather several rewards and when all of the Secrets Chests have been opened, you will be one step closer to getting the Intrepid Title.
