Diablo 4 The Pit Season 6 (Location, Unlocking & Rewards)

The Pit or The Pit of the Artificer is an endgame activity in Diablo 4 that allows you to gather Masterworking Materials for upgrading your gear.

While this activity has been introduced in the past, things have changed with the arrival of Season 6 (Season of Hatred Rising) and the Vessel of Hatred Expansion.

The mechanics for The Pit are almost unchanged but as for Season 6, unlocking The Pit and the rewards you get for completing it are a bit different now.

How To Unlock The Pit in Season 6?

The Pit of the Artificer will be unlocked once your character has reached Level 60 and has completed the Main Campaign.

During the Deeds of a Champion quest, you will be tasked with completing a Tier 20 run of The Pits, which is meant to reintroduce you to this endgame activity.

The Pit Season 6 Location

You will be able to find the Artificer’s Obelisk (Portal Activator) in Cerrigar just to the northeast of the Cerrigar Waypoint.

It is faster to arrive at Cerrigar from Firebreak Manor (Southwest from Cerrigar) or from Braestaig. (Found north of Cerrigar)

If you do not have any nearby waypoints available, traveling to the north from Kyovashad or Menestad will allow you to reach Cerrigar quickly. (Ride your mount there)

The Pit Mechanics

To begin The Pit activity, you will need to interact with the Artificer’s Obelisk, which allows you to choose the Artificer’s Tier and open a portal into The Pit.

This will require that you use a certain amount of Artificer’s Stone, which can be obtained in many ways such as opening Tortured Gifts (Helltide), Tree of Whisper Caches, and more.

You may enter the portal once you have chosen a tier and this will begin the activity, which gives you a certain time to reach and defeat the boss at the end.

Your initial task will be to slay the Pit Guardian’s Minions, which are the enemies that you encounter throughout The Pit, and this fills a meter that has a timer.

Once the meter is full, a portal will open that brings you to the Pit Guardian, which you will need to defeat to complete the activity.

Should you be able to defeat the Pit Guardian before the timer ends, this will trigger the Artificer’s Mastery, which provides you with better rewards.

Death Penalty

Dying in The Pit activity will cause you to lose a certain amount of time, which makes it more difficult to reach Artificer’s Mastery.

Your first death will reduce the timer by 30 seconds and your second will take 60 seconds while every other death afterward will take 90 seconds.

The Pit Season 6 Rewards

Completing The Pit will provide you with various equipment that depends on the tier that you run, with higher tiers providing better loot.

Additionally, defeating the Pit Guardian before the timer has expired will result in an Awakened Glyphstone appearing at the end.

The awakened Glyphstone allows you to upgrade your Glyphs, which was previously a feature in the Nightmare Dungeons until it was moved to The Pit.

Verdict

Running The Pit is done best when you are geared up to take on tougher challenges and it also provides a way for you to quickly get better gear.

If you are lucky, you will get even better drops as you do higher tiers, and making use of the Awakened Glyphstone becomes important for your builds.

While the lower levels of The Pit do not yield that much, completing the higher tiers is a quick path to finding some of the better equipment you will want for higher difficulties later.
