After a prolonged search for a way to reach the Tomb of Akarat, you and Neyrelle were able to find a tablet with ritual words carved into it.
These were recited in verses by you, Neyrelle, and Eru, which caused the water nearby to split and open up a path.
Now that the way is clear, the three of you must fight your way to the entrance of Akarat’s Tomb and make your way inside.
How To Get In His Footsteps Quest?
In His Footsteps becomes available after you have completed the Perspective Quest, which had you and Neyrelle searching for Akarat’s Tomb.
Joined by Eru once more, the three of you will now be pushing forward to find the entrance to the tomb and deliver the Soulstone to Akarat’s final resting place.

In His Footsteps Walkthrough
After the water has parted before you, climb down to proceed with making your way through the passage that has been revealed.
Continue by making your way to the marker while fighting past the Drowned that jump out of the water and clear out the remaining enemies once you reach the end.
Once the Drowned have all been slain, speak with Eru and the three of you will recite the words from the tablet once more in a scene that opens up another path.
You will need to continue pushing forward to the next area marked on your map and speak with Eru once more to do the ritual again to open up the next path.
Just as you are about to finish, the Drowned will ambush you and they will need to be slain before you can proceed with the ritual.
Once the path has been cleared, fight your way through the remaining enemies until you reach the next ritual area and this is when a Dread Captain appears.
Fight the Dread Captain and the minions that he spawns until he is slain and speak to Eru afterward to perform the next ritual.
Now that the path is clear, head to the gate that has been revealed and interact with it to open the way into the Tomb.
Once you and your allies have opened the gate to the Tomb of Akarat, the quest will shortly come to an end.
In His Footsteps Rewards
The quest will come to an end once the gate has been opened, rewarding you with XP and Gold based on your level.
Completing In His Footsteps will unlock the next quest called All Good Things, which involves entering Akarat’s Tomb.
Verdict
When all seemed as if it was at an end, the path had been revealed after you and your allies worked together to perform the required rituals.
This eventually led you through the passage created and eventually brought you to the entrance to the Tomb of Akarat.
Now that the tomb has been opened, you and your allies will be able to proceed to Akarat’s final resting place with Mephisto’s Soulstone in hand.
