The Season of Loot Reborn added a bunch of features to Diablo 4 and one of these is The Pit, which players can enter to get several rewards, which include Masterworking Materials.
Before you can enter The Pit though, you will need to get your hands on some Runeshards as these are required to enter the portal that takes you inside.
Obtaining Runeshards requires that you first progress in the season a bit before you can get them and later on, they can easily be farmed once their drops are unlocked.
How To Unlock Runeshard Drops?
To get Runeshards to drop, you will first need to reach World Tier 4, which gives you the Pit of the Artificer quest, which will pop up right away.
This quest requires that you complete a Tier 46 or higher Nightmare Dungeon, which will drop Runeshards that you may pick up to start a quest that guides you toward the obelisk in Cerrigar.
From the moment you have completed this step, you will be able to collect Runeshards in different ways depending on what activities you prefer.
How To Get Runeshards?
While obtaining your first Runeshards is done by completing a Tier 46 Nightmare Dungeon, there are other ways for you to get them too.
These include the following:
- Whisper Caches found in Sanctuary
- Tortured Chests in Helltide
- Legion Chests
- Nightmare Dungeons
- World Bosses
Runeshard Uses
Opening the Artificer’s Realm requires Runeshards and this is done in Cerrigar by interacting with the Artificer’s Obelisk.
Once you select a tier for the realm that you want to open, you will be able to see how many Runeshards are needed.
Confirming after being prompted to open a realm will consume the shown amount of Runeshards, which allows you to enter The Pit.
Verdict
To summarize everything, Runeshards are pretty much your ticket into The Pit, which is where you can get loot from defeating a boss as well as Masterworking Materials.
This makes Runeshards an important endgame item to farm if you want to maximize your gear to its full potential by getting the upgrade materials from your runs.
Farming Runeshards on the other hand is not that difficult but you will need to grind a bit depending on what tier you want to enter and how many runs you plan to do.
