Diablo 4 has often had you traveling alone unless you were joined by other players but for those who love to progress on their own, things are now different.
Blizzard has added pets to Diablo 4, giving you a cute companion who will follow you around and help you collect loot.
The best thing is that you can get a pet for free and later obtain more by making purchases from the in-game shop.
How To Get Free Pet?
If you have not gotten a pet yet, the first time you log in with a character will trigger the Faithful Companion quest to appear.
This can be completed easily as all you need to do is head to Kyovashad and pet the Well Behaved Dog, which will be marked as an optional quest objective.
After petting the dog, it will now be yours and will start following you wherever you go as well as picking up certain types of loot dropped by enemies.
What Does a Pet Do in Diablo 4?
While a pet is accompanying you, it will collect any Gold that is dropped as well as materials, making it easier for you to progress through quests and helpful when farming.
You can choose which pet you want to have to accompany you if you have more than one, which can be done by accessing the Wardrobe.
Additionally, you can interact with your pet, and this can be done by using the “Hello” emote when you are near it.
How To Get Pet with New Character?
If you have made a new character and are wondering where your pet is and why the quest has not yet appeared, there is nothing to worry about.
Should you find yourself without a pet when you make a new character, you can simply go to the Wardrobe and equip the pet.
This needs to be done with every new character and is not that much of a hassle to do because this can be done at any Wardrobe you have access to.
All Pets in Diablo 4
Having the same pet as everyone else can sometimes be boring or even confusing, which is why there are more to choose from. (Other pets must be bought unless earned from future events)
1) Asheara (Well Behaved Dog)
The Asheara is the first pet and currently the only one that you can get for free but it is adorable and works well as your first companion.
2) Hratli
Hratli appears as an armored husky that bears a resemblance to Asheara and comes with the Vessel of Hatred Pre-Purchase.
3) Natalya
Natalya is mainly themed and probably meant to be a pet for the Spiritborn but is too adorable to pass up and should look fine with other characters. (Vessel of Hatred Pre-Purchase)
4) Alkor
Like Natalya, this pet seems to have more synergy with the powers of a Spiritborn but is purely cosmetic for a pet and has the same effects. (Vessel of Hatred Pre-Purchase)
Verdict
Currently, all pets have the same effects and features, making each pet have a different appearance is purely cosmetic.
It is easy to get a pet once you create a new character as they will already be unlocked after the first time you get them.
Having a pet with you is a good way to pick up loot as this can save you time from running around picking up each item as you go by.
