Tonics are consumables that can be brewed at the Tonic Table, which was introduced in Destiny 2 Revenant Act 1 after you complete the Na-Veskirisk Mission and Quest.
Brewing Tonics provides you with various effects as well as boosts to certain Artifact Perks, giving you an advantage against your enemies or the chance to farm valuable loot.
Guardians can progress with the Tonic Table and with Apothecary Eido to unlock more recipes that can be used for brewing.
How To Brew Tonics?
To brew Tonics, you will need to head to the Tonic Table in the Tonic Laboratory and interact with it to open its menu.
This allows you to choose from the different Tonics that you will be able to brew, and you may select one or more.
Once you have selected the Tonic/s that you want to brew, there will be a short guide that helps you through the process, which instructs you to do the following:
- Collect Reagent from nearby shelves (Gather Ingredients)
- Active equipment found near the Tonic Table (Activate)
- Test the Tonic/s (Taste Test)
- Imbue the Tonic with the Tonic/s with the power of the Light (Imbue Tonic)
After completing all these steps (which are all done within the Tonic Laboratory), the Tonic/s that you brewed will come out of the machine and may be collected.
How To Use Tonics?
To use a Tonic that you have brewed, you will need to open up your Inventory Menu and select the Tonic Capsule from the accessories section.
By hovering over to Volatile Tonics or Enriching Tonics, you will be able to see which ones you have available.
Pick out the Tonic you wish to consume and hold “Apply” to activate its effects, which will last for a certain duration based on which one you have chosen.

How To Get More Tonic Recipes?
The Tonic Table initially has a certain amount of Uncommon Tonics that you may select for brewing and choosing the same Tonic a certain amount of times unlocks a new recipe.
Each type of Tonic has an Uncommon, Rare and Legendary variation and in order to unlock each next variation, its previous one needs to be brewed.
Volatile Tonics require that you craft its Uncommon Recipe 5 times to unlock its Rare Recipe and crafting the Rare Recipe 4 times unlocks the Legendary one.
This is similar in a way with Enriching Tonics and the key to unlocking all of the tonics is to craft each Tonic a certain amount of times to unlock more.
How To All Get Reagents (Crafting Ingredients)
Reagents are required to craft Tonics, and these are all stored in your Tonic Capsule, which can be checked by opening your inventory.
The following are all the Reagents that you may collect for brewing Tonics and how to get them:
Reagent | Rarity | How To Get |
| Reclaimed Vitality | Common | Defeat combatants around the system or collect destination materials |
| Volatile Powder | Uncommon | Episode Revenant Activities and Other Sources |
| Enriching Powder | Uncommon | Episode Revenant Activities and Other Sources |
| Volatile Flake | Rare | Episode Revenant Activities and Other Sources |
| Enriching Flake | Rare | Onslaught Salvation Activity |
| Tomb Flake | Rare | Tomb of Elders Activities |
| Reflective Flake | Rare | Kell’s Fall Exotic Mission |
| Volatile Nugget | Legendary | Higher-difficulty Episode Revenant Activities and other sources |
| Enriching Nugget | Legendary | Higher-difficulty Episode Revenant Activities and other sources |
Tonic Auto-Gather (Alchemastery)
After you have crafted 10 Tonics, you will be able to claim the Alchemastery Triumph (Step 1) from your Triumphs menu in the Episode: Revenant section.
Once the Triumph has been collected, you will obtain the Brewing Upgrade (Auto-Gather) as a reward, and this activates immediately.
Auto-Gather allows you to brew Tonics without having to head to the shelves and instead, all you will need to do is activate the equipment, test the tonics, and imbue them.
Verdict
Volatile Tonics are a great way to boost the capabilities of your character as they can enhance certain builds and provide bonus effects.
With the help of Enriching Tonics, you have a new way to obtain various equipment as you progress through the season, which is unlike in the past with Engrams.
Eventually, you will be able to unlock all the Tonics as long as you continue to grind and brew more of them as you obtain Reagents.
