Tomb of Elders is an activity that is tied with the Contest of Elders (an extended version of the activity) that was released in Episode Revenant Act II.
Players have been wondering when this would be released as this is the only place to repeatedly farm Tomb Flakes, which are Reagents used for brewing Tonics.
This activity is a quick way to obtain other Reagents as well since you can do several runs within an hour or less depending on how fast you can clear the rooms and defeat the final boss.
How To Unlock Tomb of Elders Activity?
The Tomb of Elders became available in Episode Revenant Act II and players will be able to do their first run if they progress with the Act II – Grave Robber quest.
Completing a Tomb of Elders activity will be the first step of Act II – Grave Robber quest and will need to be repeated later as you progress further.
Tomb of Elders Gameplay
The Tomb of Elders consists of 3 rounds, which require you to head to different locations within the prison and each of them will have different challenges.
Your first challenge will be in the Security Room, where you will fight waves of enemies until stronger combatants appear.
Clearing out the stronger combatants will then require you to defeat the remaining ones before you progress to the next cell block.
The second cell block will contain a random challenge from a list of possible encounters, which requires you to complete the objective before you can proceed to the next cell block.
This will require you to defeat enemies and may require you to complete a certain task before you can damage your main targets in the area. (Interact with the console to start)
Once the main target/s in the area have been defeated, you will need to defeat the remaining enemies and will proceed to the final cell block.
Fight your way through the traversal corridor and you will reach the last cell block, where you and your Fireteam can take place a War Banner. (Interact with the console to start)
Like the second room, you will need to defeat a certain enemy, which requires you to complete a task before you can damage it. (This acts as the boss fight of the activity)
Once you have defeated the target combatants, you will be teleported by the Warden Servitor to a room where you will receive your rewards. (Activity ends here)
Tomb of Elders Rewards
The Tomb of Elders is known to be the main source of Tomb Flakes, and this makes it one of the only places to get this Reagent aside from the bundles that you can get as rewards.
Aside from receiving Tomb Flakes, you may also receive additional Reagents by opening the chest that appears as a reward in the Tomb of Elders.
Additional rewards may include Legendary Revenant Equipment, which includes different weapons and armor that were added to the episode.
The more bonus objectives you complete, the more rewards you will be able to claim once the activity has been completed.
Contest Of Elders
The Contest of Elders is a variant of the Tomb of Elders activity, which allows you to participate in several rounds of challenges. (Equivalent to 4 rounds of Tomb of Elders)
The difficulty of the combatants you face escalates as you reach each round and at the end, you gain access to a large room full of treasures. (You can obtain several rewards here)
Completing the Contest of Elders provides you with a highly increased amount compared to the Tomb of Elders, making it great for farming Reagents and Episode Revenant gear.
You and your Fireteam will have a certain amount of revives available and these can be replenished by defeating Model Prisoners that you encounter.
At the end of the 4 rounds, you will be able to escape into the Central Airlock and will be able to reach the treasure room.
Each of the rounds you complete will provide a certain number of rewards from multiple chests depending on how many bonus objectives you complete.
Modifiers
Certain modifiers will be applied when you start a fight, and these will be cleared when you complete a round.
Modifiers will affect your health, damage, enemy attacks, ammo drops, and more as there are different random modifiers.
Paying attention to what modifiers are active will allow you to change your approach during the encounters, and allow you to adjust how you fight enemies for better survivability.
Verdict
The Tomb of Elders and Contest of Elders are great activities that you can participate in to obtain a lot of loot during Episode Revenant.
These give you access to a lot of Reagents and Legendary Weapons/Armor that were introduced in Episode Revenant as certain rolls may be better than others.
The Contest of Elders may take more time to complete but it is more rewarding than the Tomb of Elders, especially if you reach the end of the activity.
