The Ash & Iron update brings several new challenges for Guardians, one of which is carefully tracking down Golden Age Salvage.
These hidden items work much like the Data Pads from the previous season, requiring you to search through missions to collect them.
Completing each one contributes to the Pinnacle Data Pad Retrieval challenges, unlocking rewards and pushing you closer to finishing an associated triumph.
Pinnacle Data Pad Retrieval Part 1 (Golden Age Cache) Locations
The first week of Ash & Iron has made Golden Age Salvage appear in two of the Pinnacle Activities, which include Presage and Warlords’ Ruin: Hefnd’s Vengeance.
1) Presage
Once you have made your way through Glykon and have dropped down from the room that has walls closing to squish you, the Golden Age Salvage will be nearby.
After making your way down, fight your way past the ambush that takes place, and as you make your way to the next area, the Golden Salvage will be to your left.
2) Warlord’s Ruin: Hefnd’s Vengeance
In the Warlords Ruin: Hefnd’s Vengeance (Portal Activity), make your way to the point where you head up the spiral stairs to the top of the tower.
Just before you enter the area where you fight the boss, you can find the Golden Age Salvage past the two statues nearby.
Pinnacle Data Pad Retrieval Part 2 (Golden Age Cache) Locations
The second week of Ash & Iron puts you through a challenge when grabbing this Golden Age Salvage, which will take place in the Pit of Heresy.
1) Pit of Heresy: Beneath the Necropolis
To get your hands on the Golden Age Salvage in the Pit of Heresy: Beneath the Necropolis, you will need to reach the Chamber of Suffering.
Once you are in the Chamber of Suffering, head up the steps where there is a gathering and stick to the right, and you will find the Data Pad there.
Pinnacle Data Pad Retrieval Part 3 (Golden Age Cache) Locations
This set of Golden Age Salvage has been labeled as Pinnacle Missives Discovered III instead of Pinnacle Data Recovery III, but still has you exploring Pinnacle Ops activities.
You will be exploring the NODE.OVRD.AVALON and Duality activities, where specific locations will have Golden Age Caches.
1) NODE.OVRD.AVALON Golden Age Salvage 1
During the start of the activity, you will be making your way down into the Vex Network, and along the way, you can’t miss this Data Pad.
This will be found in front of the barrier that is keeping a Specimen Mu trapped, and can be collected before you descend.
2) NODE.OVRD.AVALON Golden Age Salvage 2
After completing the puzzle with the Vex Symbols and defeating the two Hydras, continue along the right-hand path to advance through the activity.
Look carefully near the side of a ledge along this route, where you will find the next Data Pad waiting to be collected.
3) Nightmare Of Gahlran Golden Age Salvage
After progressing through the areas where you need to shoot the bells to proceed, you will drop down to fight the boss.
Just past the Rally Banner spot, you will be able to find the Data Pad on top of a small surface, and this can be seen as you drop down.
Verdict
Golden Age Salvage does not require much effort once you know their placements, making the challenges straightforward to finish.
The only real risk of missing them comes from moving too quickly through an activity, so it helps to slow down and scan each area.
Since collection is account-wide, you only need to pick them up once, which makes completing the triumph far less time-consuming.
