Destiny 2’s Episode Revenant introduces a new activity for Guardians to participate in, which is similar to previous Onslaught activities but with a twist.
This time around, you are heading to specific locations to defend the Eliksni with the help of the Advance Defensive Unit (ADU) and rescue some captives in the process.
There are two variants of this seasonal activity, which are Onslaught Playlist and Onslaught Salvation, providing you with a normal or challenging activity.
How To Start Onslaught Activities?
Onslaught Activities (Playlist and Salvation) are only available to those who have purchased the Season Pass or the Annual Pass.
Starting the Revenant Act I Prologue will allow you to experience this activity once, but further runs will require you to have purchased one of the two options.
To start an Onslaught Activity, you may open the Destinations menu, select The Last City and you will find both activities there.
Revenant Onslaught Playlist Activity Mechanics
Once the activity begins, you and your fire team will need to head to the defense point and clear the combatants in the area where the ADU will be deployed.
You and your fireteam will have a starting number of Scraps to use along with the ones that you get from defeating enemies and may activate as well as upgrade defenses.
After the timer has gone off, waves of enemies will appear, and you will have to defeat them as you protect the ADU.
You will often encounter Saboteurs that may be defeated, which will result in them dropping ADU Batteries that you may pick up and toss as the ADU.
This will provide you with additional scraps as well as heal the ADU, which is essential for saving up defenses and restoring the ADU’s health.
Fighting up to the 5th wave will cause a portal to appear, which will lead you into the area where you need to rescue the Eliksni captives.
The Eliksni captives can be freed by heading into the barrier (this barrier blocks projectiles) so that you can fire from within to hit the lock on top of the cages, freeing the prisoners.
Additionally, there will be Revenant enemies that need to be defeated, which can be done by depleting their health and destroying the revenant totems.
Once you have freed the Eliksni Prisoners and defeated the Revenant enemies, you will be able to leave through a nearby portal.
Once you are back at the ADU, you will need to defend it until you reach the 10th wave, and this will open another portal but this time to a boss.
The boss will be tough but together with your fireteam, you should be able to fight back its minions and defeat him.
After the boss has been defeated, the mission will be complete, and you can collect rewards from a nearby chest.
Onslaught Salvation
Onslaught Salvation is almost the same as the Onslaught Playlist, but this sets you up to complete 50 waves of enemies.
However, the rewards are much greater as you will also be able to obtain better loot, more XP, and even get the Enriching Flake Reagent.
This activity proves to be a more difficult one to complete but with perseverance and teamwork, you will be able to beat it often.
An additional chest that yields even more rewards will spawn at the end of an Onslaught Salvation mission.
Onslaught Activity Rewards
Completing an Onslaught Activity will often reward you with XP and materials such as an Enhancement Core, but the real rewards come from the chest.
Onslaught Activity Chests will reward you with Glimmer, Reagents, equipment, and more as these are sometimes randomized.
Onslaught Salvation will have more rewards and is the only way for you to get Enriching Flakes, which are needed with some Tonics.
Onslaught Defenses
There are multiple Onslaught Defenses that you may activate and upgrade by using the Scraps that you have collected throughout the mission.
You can make use of turrets, mountable turrets, decoys, trip mines, and even air strikes to defeat the enemies that come your way.
Approaching these defenses will allow you to activate them or upgrade them once you have enough Scraps and you will be able to see how much you need once you are close to them.
Verdict
Being the main activities for Episode Revenant, Onslaught Activities are an important part of this season and will often need to be completed if you wish to progress.
Several Reagents that you need may be obtained by completing Onslaught Activities, with Enriching Flakes being exclusive to Onslaught Salvation.
A good way to prepare for Onslaught Salvation is to prepare your build, choose the right weapons for taking on enemies, and make use of the new Tonics introduced in Destiny 2 Revenant.
