Following the aftermath of what happened in The Edge of Fate, the universe was altered, and now you, Drifter, and a few others were recently caught by a larger ship.
While you were able to escape danger, the Drifter has been taken, and you will need to look for him in order to get him back to the Derelict.
A new type of enemy stands in your way, and only with your help will the Drifter be able to escape what fate lies ahead of him after being captured.
How To Get the Imperium Exotic Mission?
Upon logging in for the first time and choosing one of your characters after the Destiny 2: Renegades update, the Imperium Mission begins after a few cutscenes.
If you happen to exit the mission or game during Imperium, you may start it later once you log back in and choose it from the Destinations Menu or launch it from Renegades Quest.
Imperium Mission Walkthrough
The mission begins with you in Zagan Gloriosus aboard the Derelict, which has been captured and stored in the cargo bay of a Stolen NLS Cruiser.
Begin by making your way to the waypoint, where you will be able to pick up a weapon called All or Nothing (Legendary Pulse Rifle) and need to open and activate the nearby platform.
Once the platform is lowered, head over to the waypoint, and you will need to fight your way through the enemies to head around a room that is blocked by a barrier.
Activate the console in the room and continue pushing forward to the next waypoint, where you will find yourself in a hangar that is filled with combatants.
Continue fighting your way through combatants and follow the waypoint until you reach a large room where you find an Imperium Hangar Security combatant.
This is where Ablative Armor is explained, which is a shield some enemies have that needs to be destroyed before you can damage them. (It regenerates if they don’t take damage for a while)
Move toward the waypoint until you reach multiple cargo platforms, which can pass through the barrier, but you will need to find an alternate route.
Look for openings that allow passage by jumping onto the moving platforms, timing your jumps carefully to reach them before the path closes.
Openings appear in various locations, so take time to observe your surroundings and determine the correct path until you reach the next area safely.
Once you make it through the barriers and go through the vents, you will find yourself in a large garbage compactor, which bears a similarity to a scene from Star Wars: A New Hope.
Make your way to the end and fight off the Hive combatants until the walls are almost closed, and look above the door, where a glowing red device can be seen.
Shoot the device to shut down the garbage compactor walls, which will also cause the door to open, allowing you to leave. (Don’t worry, no monster in the water will attack you)
Continue making your way to where Drifter is being held captive by following the waypoint, and once you reach him, he will be held in a Stasis Block. (Another Star Wars-like scene)
Interact with the console to lower the Stasis Block, which you will then need to escort back to the Derelict by staying within its range.
Once you have brought Drifter back to his ship, head to where the Rally Point is and interact with it before heading back to where enemies will appear.
After fighting through multiple enemies, an enemy called Behemoth Nihil will appear, which is like the AT-ST (All Terrain Scout Transport) from Star Wars as well.
Fight it just like you would any other large robotic boss by blasting away at it, and if you get the chance, aim for its viewport (the glowing orange part) at its front.
Another Behemoth Nihil will be on the opposite side of where you fought the first one, which you will also need to defeat.
After the second Behemoth Nihil has been destroyed, its pilot will come out of it, and you will need to defeat this combatant known as an Imperium Tesserarius Praetorian.
Once that is done, head back to the Derelict and go inside to thaw out Drifter, which will already be happening thanks to his Ghost.
Shortly after speaking to Drifter, he and his Ghost will leave the scene, and the mission will come to an end after a cutscene is played.
Imperium Mission Rewards
During the earlier part of this mission, you get your hands on the All or Nothing (Legendary Strand Pulse Rifle) as an early boost for the season.
Additionally, it is possible to obtain loot during the mission, while XP and Glimmer may be added but not shown due to the cutscene.
Verdict
It appears that after being captured, Drifter was frozen in a Stasis Block and most likely was to be transported to be kept as a prisoner elsewhere.
Thanks to your efforts, he was brought back to the Derelict and thawed out, but things are nowhere near over, as a new enemy has appeared.
It seems that one of The Nine is pulling the strings, and behind them is a whole army of combatants that they are now manipulating.
