Catalysts are some of the more important upgrades that you want to get for your Exotic Weapons, but these are sometimes hard to get.
While some Catalysts require you to complete certain missions and other objectives, most of the other ones are obtained as random drops from Crucible Matches.
Along with the recent change in rewards, a new way to quickly gain Catalysts has appeared and we have prepared a quick guide for you to start farming them.
How To Check Catalyst Sources?
To check how you can get a Catalyst for a specific Exotic Weapon, you may open your Inventory and go to Collections where you will be able to choose Patterns & Catalysts.
You will be able to view the different Weapon Patterns you have collected as well as the Catalysts that you have.
Checking an Exotic Weapon that you do not have the Catalyst for will allow you to view how to get them, which will often be completing activities such as Crucible Matches.
Catalysts that you have obtained will show the objectives that need to be done to unlock them, while those that have been greyed out have not yet been acquired.
How To Farm Crucible Catalysts Fast?
A fast way to get your hands on Catalysts that drop from Crucible Matches would be to hold a Private Match under Crucible.
Setting the settings of the match to the lowest such as points, time, and objectives will allow you to quickly complete the match.
Since Crucible Matches have a chance to provide Catalysts as rewards, this will give you a chance to get some of the Exotic Weapon Catalysts that you need. (Such as The Queenbreaker)
A favorite choice of ours would be to run a Collision Match and set the timer to 5 minutes and objectives to 5 as this allows you to complete the match in mere seconds. (Rinse and repeat)
Keep in mind that not all Catalysts are obtained the same way and this method is mainly for those that drop from Crucible Matches.
Verdict
This seems to be the less tedious way of obtaining some of the Catalysts for Exotic Weapons, but some weapons have other objectives that need to be done.
Resorting to this method is a great way to quickly get the Catalysts you need, and you can even multitask if you have other things to do.
Catalysts that drop upon completing Crucible Matches still rely on RNG, which makes it necessary to do several runs, but these should not take too long.
