If you’re progressing through Act II: Rites of the Deep and find yourself making your way to complete the Trial of Will: Ambition, you will eventually run into a Devoured Ogre.
This Devoured Ogre has become a nuisance for some players as it is not only a dangerous enemy but may be a bit confusing for some to defeat at first.
Taking out this enemy is not that hard to do though as all you need to do is progress with the Trial of Will: Ambition and you will eventually be able to defeat it.
Where To Find Devoured Ogre?
The Devoured Ogre is an enemy that you encounter at the Shrine of Oryx on the Moon, who first appears as a Blistered Ogre.
Once you approach the Blistered Ogre, you will notice that Servile Wizards are doing something to it, which causes the enemy to disappear.
You encounter them later but they will now be a Devoured Ogre, which you will need to defeat to progress.
How To Defeat Devoured Ogre?
After your first encounter with the Blistered Ogre, it will disappear, and you will need to fight your way through the enemies in the area.
You will need to defeat the Servile Wizards in the area and they will be marked for you to easily find as you make your way through the Shrine of Oryx.
After defeating the Servile Wizards, you will run into the Devoured Ogre next and may damage it like you would any enemy.
The Devoured Ogre will kneel once it has been weakened, and this is the point where some players have wondered what they need to do.
Once the Devoured Ogre is downed, Eris Morn will urge you to finish it off (she says it’s vulnerable) and this simply means you need to perform a finisher.
A portal will be left behind once you perform a finisher on the Devoured Ogre and once you enter, you will find it in the Place of the Offering. (Ascendant Plane)
The Devoured Ogre will be bound, and you will need to shoot the parts that are chained to it to prevent an ongoing sacrifice.
After destroying the objects that are binding the Devoured Ogre, you will be brought back but this time, you will be Torn Between Dimensions.
It is from here that you may continue with the Trial of Will: Ambition, which requires you to fight your way through the rest of the area.
Trial of Will: Ambition
The Trial of Will: Ambition is part of Quest Step 11 of Act II: Rites of the Deep, which requires you to make your way to the Shrine of Oryx.
This is what brings you to come face to face with the Devoured Ogre, who must be defeated before you progress to the next parts of the trial.
Eventually, while you are Torn Between Dimensions, you will need to fight your way to the next area and destroy the Taken Blights in the area to complete the trial.
Verdict
The Taken Ogre can be an annoying enemy to face, and you will only be able to defeat it after you have dealt with the Servile Wizards.
This enemy can be dangerous for those who are not well equipped and taking cover when it attacks can be a good way to survive.
A finisher can only be performed on the Devoured Ogre once you have weakened its health to about 10% of its maximum, which will open up the portal to its real location.
