While exploring Sanctuary, you find a priest named Matvey, who talks to you about Ritual Barriers that were built in the past to ward off evil.
Priest Matvey tells you that there is one nearby and he would like it to be lit in hopes of having its effects protect those nearby it.
You will need to search for the Ritual Brazier and light it while also making sure that any evil that lurks nearby is also eliminated.
How To Get The Cleansing Flame Quest?
The Cleansing Flame Side Quest may be obtained by speaking to Priest Matvey, who can be found in Margrave in the Fractured Peaks.
The Cleansing Flame Quest Objectives
1) Light the Ritual Brazier
After speaking to Priest Matvey, you will need to head over to the location where the Ritual Brazier can be found, which is just a few seconds away from Margrave.
2) Light the brazier to start the ritual
Once you are in the location marked on your map, you will need to interact with the Ritual Brazier to light it up but this causes enemies to appear.
3) Cleanse the area
As the enemies begin to appear, you will be attacked and this requires that you clear out all the enemies that arrive in waves until none are left.
4) Return to Priest Matvey
After clearing the area where the Ritual Brazier was lit, head back to Priest Matvey to speak to him and he will give you your reward, ending the quest.
Merchant’s Ledger
During the quest, you may find an item called the Merchant’s Ledger, which is a quest item for the Unwritten End Side Quest.
You may later return this to Zalan Coste at Margrave to see if he will reward you for retrieving this item and bringing it to him.
The Cleansing Flame Rewards
Speaking to Priest Matvey after cleaning the area with the Ritual Brazier will complete the quest and earn you the following rewards:
- XP
- Gold
- 20 Fractured Peaks Renown
- 1 Murmuring Cache
Verdict
Your trip to the Ritual Brazier may have been easy but the enemies that appeared after lighting the Brazier makes their theories questionable as enemies arrived.
Priest Matvey claimed that he could smell the brazier from Margrave and wished he could have been there, which is probably good that he wasn’t.
While unsure if the brazier lighting was effective, at least you were able to help Priest Matvey out in some way.
