After defeating Mephisto and escaping the collapsing temple, there was still one final matter left unresolved regarding Lorath’s fate.
His head had been taken by the Tree of Whispers, leaving his soul trapped and unable to rest even after everything that had happened.
Together with Tyrael, you now make your way to the Tree of Whispers to finally put an end to Lorath’s suffering and close this chapter once and for all.
How To Get the No Gods, No Masters Quest?
The “No Gods, No Masters” quest becomes available after the completion of the quest called “A New Beginning.”
In “The New Beginning,” you previously made your escape from the Pools of Creation and met up with Tharra before deciding to put Lorath’s soul to rest.
No Gods, No Masters Walkthrough
After you previously watched the temple sink and spoke with Tharra in “A New Beginning,” you must now make your way to the Tree of Whispers.
Once you reach the location, speak with Taissa, who decides not to interfere with your plans as she believes she owes Lorath a debt.
Approach the Tree of Whispers, and it will attempt to ward you off with its words, eventually speaking through Lorath’s head, though it is still the tree itself talking.
Tyrael prepares a torch capable of burning the Tree of Whispers, and you will need to interact with him to take the torch and begin a cutscene.
During the cutscene, you burn the Tree of Whispers, and in Lorath’s final moments, you see him close his eyes, finally allowing his soul to rest.
No Gods, No Masters Quest Rewards
After the cutscene, the end credits will roll, and after that ends, the quest will be complete, concluding the Lord of Hatred campaign.
In addition to the next quest being unlocked, you also receive:
- XP
- Gold
There will be two priority quests available, which are The Horadric Cube, which is a simple refreshener about the new feature.
Another quest called “The War for Sanctuary,” which introduces the War Plans Command Table, another new feature added in the Lord of Hatred expansion.
Verdict
With the Tree of Whispers finally burned and Lorath’s soul allowed to rest, the long journey against Mephisto and his corruption has finally come to an end.
You and Tyrael were able to honor Lorath one last time, bringing peace to someone who sacrificed everything throughout the fight against the Lord of Hatred.
Although the campaign has ended and Mephisto has been banished, Sanctuary remains scarred by corruption, leaving new battles and challenges waiting ahead.
