Deep within the Catacombs of the original Diablo was an optional quest where reading a mysterious book opened the way into a prison inhabited by enemies that vanished from sight.
Known as Halls of the Blind, its twisting passages concealed the Optic Amulet while Illusion Weavers stalked the hero from the darkness.
Season 15 recreates that unsettling encounter as a Waking Nightmare, this time taking away your own sight as you search for the amulet hidden within the halls.
Halls of the Blind Location
Halls of the Blind Waking Nightmare is located in Umir Plateau within Hawezar, with its entrance permanently marked on the world map.
Entering the portal takes you into a recreation of the original Diablo quest, where the Book of the Blind and Optic Amulet once again play central roles.
Halls of the Blind Walkthrough
Enter Halls of the Blind and make your way through the dungeon until you locate the Book of the Blind, then interact with it to read the book and begin the main objective.
Your vision will immediately become heavily obscured while the surrounding audio becomes distorted, forcing you to continue through the dungeon with considerably reduced awareness.
Search the next area for the Optic Amulet, recover it from the chest beyond the iron gate, then survive the ambush that follows before picking up the amulet to restore your senses.
Return to the Book of the Blind and interact with it once more to return the Optic Amulet, cleansing the Waking Nightmare and completing the dungeon.
How To Find The Optic Amulet?
After reading the Book of the Blind, continue into the next area and begin working your way around the square-shaped section of the dungeon toward its center.
Your destination is the enclosed central area, where you will find a chest positioned just beyond an iron gate containing the Optic Amulet needed to restore your senses.
Interact with the chest to release the amulet and trigger an enemy ambush, then defeat the attackers and collect the Optic Amulet before beginning your journey back to the book.
How To Remove Blindness?
Reading the Book of the Blind severely reduces your vision and distorts the surrounding audio, making it considerably harder to see enemies approaching while searching for the Optic Amulet.
The effect remains active until you reach the center of the next area and collect the Optic Amulet, which immediately restores your normal vision and removes the distorted sound.
Keep your guard up while the effect is active, as the limited visibility can make nearby enemies appear to emerge suddenly from the darkness before you have much time to react.
How To Complete Halls of the Blind Quickly?
Halls of the Blind is one of the faster Dungeon Waking Nightmares once you understand its layout, since there are very few objectives standing between you and completion.
After reading the Book of the Blind, concentrate on circling toward the center of the next area rather than clearing every enemy you encounter while your vision remains obscured.
Grab the Optic Amulet, deal with the resulting ambush, then immediately return to the Book of the Blind and return the amulet to complete the dungeon.
Farming Halls of the Blind
The short objective makes Halls of the Blind a decent Waking Nightmare to farm, especially for builds capable of quickly moving through the dungeon and handling its tougher enemies.
Several dangerous enemies can appear throughout the halls and provide additional opportunities for valuable drops without requiring a particularly long dungeon clear.
Once you know the route to the Optic Amulet, repeated runs can be completed quickly while still giving you plenty of enemies to kill for loot and seasonal progression.
Halls of the Blind Rewards
Enemies throughout Halls of the Blind can provide plenty of regular loot, with several tougher enemies appearing during the relatively short journey toward the Optic Amulet and back.
Completing the dungeon also contributes toward your Waking Nightmare progression while providing another opportunity to progress the Prime Evil reputation associated with your current Splinter.
Its combination of a short completion time and numerous stronger enemies makes Halls of the Blind particularly useful when you want a quick Waking Nightmare without sacrificing opportunities for drops.
Verdict
Halls of the Blind was memorable in the original Diablo because its Illusion Weavers could disappear from sight before suddenly emerging from the darkness to attack.
Season 15 cleverly reverses that idea by obscuring your own vision after reading the Book of the Blind, making the search for the returning Optic Amulet considerably more unsettling.
It is also one of the shorter Waking Nightmares, but the blindness effect and faithful use of the original quest’s relics give this small dungeon plenty of character.
