After going through the tunnels as a detour and scaling the mountains, your group has finally made it to the entrance of The First Vault.
Upon reaching the entrance, you were able to open the doorway, allowing the group to finally proceed into this Horadric Vault.
The dangers that lie within are unknown, especially since ancient Horadric magic protects the vault from certain outsiders, particularly demons or those with demon blood, such as yourself.
How To Get Doorways to the Distant Past Quest?
“Doorways to the Distant Past” becomes your active quest after you have completed “The Needle’s Path” quest, which had you journeying through the mountains.
You, Tyrael, and Lorath have finally reached the doorway to The First Vault, and now that it has been opened, the three of you must find a way to reforge Lilith’s Blade.
Doorways to the Distant Past Walkthrough
With the doorway now opened, go into The First Vault and head for the Vault’s Door within, which will be marked by a waypoint.
Upon reaching the large room, Tyrael and Lorath will attempt to break the seal, but suddenly, a Horadric Echoes begin to appear, and you must defeat it.
These Horadric Echoes will be invulnerable when outside of the areas marked with a red circle, and they must be lured into them for you to be able to damage the echoes.
You will have to defeat 3 Horadric Echoes, and afterward, the way into The Last Vault will be open for the group to explore.
Make your way to the next area where the Horadric Guardian can be found and interact with the Inner Vault door, which suddenly summons Horadric Constructs.
Defeat the Horadric Constructs and speak with Tyrael, who will reveal that four seals need to be broken as they are protecting the door from intruders such as yourself.
Tyrael will lead you to one of the portals, which will later need to be accessed to obtain a sigil that must be brought back to the main chamber. (Quest ends here)
Doorways to the Distant Past Quest Rewards
After entering the Chamber of Gates and speaking to Tyrael after defeating the Horadric Constructs, the quest will end, and a new one called “The Scribe” will begin.
In addition to the next quest being unlocked, you also receive:

Verdict
After reaching the sealed inner sanctum door within the First Vault, Horadric magic prevents entry and reinforces ancient protective barriers against intruders.
Four seals must now be broken across separate portals, each requiring exploration to obtain sigils and weaken the vault’s magical defenses.
With the Horadrim’s careful warding in place, each portal hides new dangers, forcing your group to proceed cautiously while breaking the defenses.
