Lair Bosses in Diablo 4 are spread across multiple regions, with each encounter taking place in its own dungeon or special boss area.
Knowing where these bosses are located becomes important later on when farming specific loot, Uniques, and endgame rewards efficiently.
Season 13 separates these encounters into Initiate, Greater, and Exalted tiers, with each boss tied to its own location and related hoard rewards afterward.
How To Get To Lair Boss Dungeons Quickly?
Lair Boss Dungeons can now be accessed much faster using direct map navigation, removing the need to manually travel across regions.
You can simply open your map, select the Lair Boss dungeon, and teleport directly to the entrance once it has been discovered.
This makes boss farming much more efficient, especially when rotating between multiple Lair Bosses during Torment progression or endgame farming runs.
Initiate Lair Boss Locations
Initiate Lair Bosses are the entry-level endgame bosses you begin hunting once you reach Torment I and start engaging with Lair Boss progression across Sanctuary.
These bosses are found in fixed dungeon locations, and their hoards are opened using a universal Lair Key.
Lair Keys can be obtained from:
- War Plans Rewards
- Helltides
- World Bosses
- Legion Events
- Tree of Whispers caches
- Undercity of Kurast
1) Beast in The Ice (Glacial Fissure)
The Beast in the Ice is located inside the Glacial Fissure within the Desolate Highlands of Fractured Peaks.
This dungeon sits in the eastern section of the region and serves as one of the more straightforward Initiate boss encounters to reach.
2) Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint (Hall of the Penitent)
Grigoire is found inside the Hall of the Penitent located in the Dindai Flats area of Dry Steppes.
The entrance is positioned within the southern portion of the zone and is a key early Torment farming location.
3) Lord Zir (Ancient’s Seat)
Lord Zir is encountered inside the Ancients’ Seat, accessed through The Darkened Way in Fractured Peaks.
Players must travel through the connected area before reaching the boss arena deeper inside the dungeon or may fast travel to the location via the map.
4) Varshan (Malignant Burrow)
Varshan is located inside the Malignant Burrow near the Tree of Whispers in The Writhing Mire of Hawezar.
Its proximity to a major endgame hub makes it one of the most frequently farmed Initiate boss locations.
5) Urivar (Fields of Judgement)
Urivar is found in the Fields of Judgement within the Tegenze Plateau region of Nahantu.
This is one of the newer Initiate encounters introduced with the expanded endgame zone structure.
Greater Lair Boss Locations
Greater Lair Bosses are mid-to-high tier endgame encounters that become a primary focus once you begin pushing deeper into Torment progression across Sanctuary.
These bosses are found in dedicated dungeon locations and their hoards are opened using a Greater Lair Key.
Greater Lair Keys can be obtained from:
- Opening Initiate Lair Boss hoards
- War Plans Rewards
1) Andariel (Hangman’s Hall)
Andariel can be summoned inside the Hanged Man’s Hall, which is a Boss Liar found in Kehjistan around the Scouring Sands to the east of Tarsarak.
2) Duriel (Gaping Crevasse)
Entering the Gaping Crevasse located in the Southern Expanse within the region of Kehjistan will allow you to challenge Duriel.
3) Harbinger of Hatred (Harbinger’s Den)
The Harbinger of Hatred can be summoned inside of the Harbinger’s Den, which is found within the region of Nahantu in the Lingering Hatred near the Kurast Docks.
4) The Butcher (The Broiler)
The Butcher was introduced in Season 13 and is now a permanent Greater Lair Boss that can be fought inside The Broiler, located in Gea Kul.
Exalted Lair Boss Locations
Belial, Lord of Lies is the only Exalted Lair Boss, located inside the Palace of the Deceiver in Kehjistan where he can be challenged in Torment progression.
Belial, Lord of Lies (Palace of the Deceiver)
Belial, Lord of Lies may be summoned and challenged in the Palace of the Deceiver, which is located in the Amber Sands of Kehjistan (to the west of Tarsarak).
Opening his hoard requires 2 Betrayer’s Husks after defeating him in the Palace of the Deceiver.
Betrayer’s Husks are obtained by defeating Belial when he ambushes you after opening another Lair Boss hoard.
Verdict
The Lair Boss system in Season 13 is built around a clear progression loop, starting from Initiate bosses and scaling up into Greater and Exalted encounters.
Each tier uses its own key type, making farming a mix of activities like War Plans, boss hoards, and seasonal progression rather than a single source.
Overall, the system is designed to let players naturally progress toward higher-value bosses while targeting specific loot through each hoard tier.
