Destiny 2 The Invitation Mission Walkthrough (The Edge of Fate)

A new location archived in the Vanguard as “Kepler” has come up, and gravimetric distortion tracked from the EDZ has been discovered to be entangled in dark matter.

It was discovered that a black hole is on Kepler, which can take out the entire Sol system, and to stop this, you will need to locate someone who had previously left clues for you.

As the first mission in The Edge of Fate (Season: Reclamation), you are tasked with meeting up with Ikora to track down the signal.

How To Get The Invitation Mission?

The Invitation is the first mission that you will be doing once you have logged in after the release of The Edge of Fate. (Season: Reclamation)

This acts as an introduction to the new story as well as a way for you to obtain the Seasonal Artifact, which is called the “Implement of Curiosity.

The Invitation Mission Walkthrough

Once you arrive on Kepler, you will need to begin by making your way to where you and Ikora are supposed to rendezvous.

This involves following a path and jumping across some platforms before you reach a bridge where Unidentified Combat Units are found.

Enemies that resemble the Eliksni will appear, which Ikora claims to have never seen before, especially when you catch sight of a Corsair. (Eliksni with a jetpack)

You will need to defeat the combatants in the area and proceed with fighting through areas where more of them appear until you reach Ikora.

Upon reaching the rendezvous location, you will need to defeat the combatants that spawn in the area until none of them are left.

Ikora will appear shortly after, and this requires that you approach and interact with her to begin the conversation between the two of you.

Follow the marker on your map until you reach a door that will unlock once you are near it, and continue making your way to the marked area.

Interact with the device near the door, and a strange glyph will begin to block your view, which also makes things distorted.

You will come across a device that holds Dark Matter and will need to interact with it to fuse with it to obtain the Matterspark ability.

This turns you into a small orb that will allow you to pass through tight spaces, and you will need to use your current state to head through a small entrance near the stairs.

Head to the end, and you will find a tunnel that leads to another small entry, which you may slip through when you have Matterspark active.

Make your way to the device nearby and attack it while you are still an orb, which will charge the device and open up your path to the next area.

Place a Rally banner in the marked area, and make your way outside through the door, and you will encounter the Exile Overseer.

You will need to activate Matterspark to reach 2 areas where devices need to be charged, which will take down the Exile Overseer’s shields. (You may defeat the boss now)

After being contacted by Ikora, search for materials by following the marker on your radar until you reach the area where the Crystalline Captain is encountered.

Defeat the Crystalline Captain as you would any other boss, and this will allow you to explore the area without any issues.

There will be 3 devices that need to be charged, and you will need to activate Matterspark by interacting with the nearby device to do this.

Head to the marked location, and above the small structure will be an entrance, and this is where you will find a chest that will have a material called Acceleron inside.

Head to the location that you were previously at, and there will be an enemy called Vessel of Archon and other Combatants.

Clear out all of the enemies, including the Archon’s Vessels, before collecting the Unusual Vessel that has dropped from a chest that has opened nearby. (Strangelet Capsule)

Activate the Mechanism nearby that is marked as an objective, and this will begin a cutscene where you meet Lodi, who has been sending out messages and is the signal’s source.

After the cutscene, you will need to fight more enemies before another chest appears, and strangely, it drops the Strangelet Capsule again.

Follow your marker to what appears to be a modern train and jump onto the front, which will teleport you inside the train, but things will be odd as it seems to be moving.

Head to the end of the train, and you will eventually reach a tunnel that you need to traverse through until you meet up with Lodi.

Interact with Lodi, and this will begin a cutscene where introductions are properly done, along with a tour of the new location called Caldera, before the mission ends.

The Invitation Mission Rewards

After the cutscene where you are given a tour around Caldera, the mission will be complete, and at this point, the rewards don’t show for us.

Checking our inventory and more shows that the following rewards were received.

  • XP
  • Glimmer
  • Equipment
  • Implement of Curiosity (Seasonal Artifact)

Verdict

What was believed to be an uninhabited location turns out to have life on it, including a different variation of Eliksni, a lost researcher, and some scientist of a sort.

A new location called Caldera has been revealed, and this looks like it will be your go-to place for the majority of the story.

Now that you have arrived in Caldera and have met up with Lodi, it’s time to help everyone out while planning what to do next with Ikora.
