Destiny 2: How to Get Heirloom & Its Catalyst

When it comes to fights, dealing explosive damage is one of the best ways to control space and clear out groups of enemies quickly and efficiently.

The Heirloom is a weapon that does exactly this, and after its introduction in the Renegades expansion, many Guardians are effortlessly wiping enemies with its charged bolts.

Securing this Exotic requires persistence, as players must grind the Equilibrium dungeon, defeat the final boss, and rely on RNG drops across weekly resets to finally add it to their arsenal.

How To Get Heirloom?

To get the Heirloom in Destiny 2, you must complete the Equilibrium dungeon from the Renegades expansion and defeat the final boss to access the reward chest.

The Heirloom drop is RNG-based, and each character only gets one roll per weekly reset, so clearing the dungeon multiple times in the same week does not increase chances.

This means if you want more opportunities, you need to use different characters, as each character’s first clear of the week is the only one that counts.

Completing Equilibrium Triumphs tied to the dungeon can slightly improve your drop odds, but even with bonuses, the Heirloom is never guaranteed and requires repeated weekly attempts.

Intrinsic Traits

Bolt Thrower

Heirloom fires high-powered explosive bolts with each shot, which are strong when used against Unstoppable Champions.

How To Get Heirloom Catalyst?

To get the Heirloom Catalyst, you must complete the Equilibrium dungeon’s “The Way Between” quest, attune the Catalyst at the brazier, and finish encounters until it drops.

After obtaining the Catalyst, you must earn 500 kills with the Heirloom Exotic crossbow before the perk activates and can be slotted into the weapon.

Once activated, the Catalyst causes charged bolt shots to apply Scorch to enemies, dealing damage over time, and increases damage against targets that are already scorched.

Verdict

Heirloom proves incredibly effective for players who can consistently land shots, as its explosive bolts deal massive damage and apply Scorch to multiple enemies simultaneously.

Pairing it with Strand builds or mods that boost precision, damage, or ability recharge can further enhance its impact, creating powerful combos in both PvE and PvP.

While accuracy is important, the weapon’s area-of-effect explosions provide forgiveness, allowing it to perform well against groups of enemies, champions, and in scenarios requiring crowd control.
