Alethonym is an Exotic Grenade Launcher that was introduced in Destiny 2 Episode Revenant, which fires powerful Harvester Spikes that deal Stasis Damage.

How To Get Alethonym?
Alethonym is available to Guardians who reach Seasonal Rank 40, allowing them to collect this Exotic Grenade Launcher from the Season Rank Rewards.
Guardians who have purchased the Season Pass for Revenant or the Annual Pass will be able to collect Alethonym at Seasonal Rank 1.

Alethonym is weighted for vertical recoil.

Alethonym gains energy when you pick up Vestiges and allows you to create ammo at the projectile impact point for you and your allies.
Special Ammo mode unlocks at 50% energy while Heavy Ammo mode unlocks at 100% energy, which can be selected by holding “Reload” to cycle through firing modes.
4) Short-Action Stock (Stock)

Alethonym Intrinsic Traits
Harvester Spike
Alethonym fires a Harvester Spike projectile, which causes your final blows to create a single Vestige at the target’s location.
Impaling more powerful enemies will cause a steady stream of Vestiges to spawn from the target, allowing you to fill up your energy faster.
Vestiges that are created will slowly be drawn to you and once collected, these will fill up your energy and allow you to spawn ammo depending on your firing mode.
Alethonym Catalyst
No Catalyst
Alethonym has a Catalyst Slot but as of Revenant Act I, this is not obtainable at the moment but it will be available in the upcoming acts.
Verdict
Alethonym is a great weapon to have and fun to use due to its ability to quickly destroy groups of enemies with a single shot.
Having another weapon that can be used to rapidly fire can make up for its reload, which is required after each shot. (Speeding up your reload speed makes the weapon more efficient)
