Spider has made a way for you to obtain a Splicer Shank that should be able to get you through the Fearsome Retainer’s firewalls.
In order to decrypt their data and gain an advantage against them, you will need to get this Shank, but before that, a deal has been struck.
You are to meet up with Spider on his barge and escort the Shank into Fearsome Retainer territory and clear it for the Pikers in exchange for the Shank.
How To Get the Fearsome Retainer Mission?
Fearsome Retainer is available once you have reached Quest Step 10 in the Renegades Quest, which is required to continue to the next step.
This follows after the help you provided in obtaining keycard caches that Vixis asked you to help him with, which welcomed you amongst the Pikers.
Fearsome Retainer Mission Walkthrough
Once the quest begins, make your way into the ship as you normally would so that it will take you to Tharsis, which is where Spider will be waiting.
Board Spider’s Barge and meet up with him to get the Splicer Shank to follow you, which you will now lead to the Imperium Outpost.
Clear the enemies and the Shank, and afterward, it will hack a nearby door that will allow you to proceed, making your way to the Command Bay.
A barrier will be blocking the way, and to take it down, you will need to search for 3 energy sources that need to be destroyed.
Once they are destroyed, the barrier will be taken down, and you may proceed to the next area, where you will need to restore power to the Syndicate Infrastructure.
This requires that you defeat the enemies in the area until a Battery Thief appears, whom you must defeat to obtain a charge.
Take the Arc Charges that you get and deposit them, which must be done 3 times before you may continue with the mission.
Continue making your way to the Command Bay by following the next waypoint, which will bring you to a large vehicle bay where combatants will be waiting.
Clear out the Cabal combatants, and there will be a barrier nearby, which needs to be deactivated by heading into the nearby structure, where you will interact with a console.
The Pikers will turn on you after you interact with the console, and you will need to defeat them as well as destroy a nearby generator to disable the barrier.
Continue making your way to the next waypoint while fighting past the Pikers until you reach an area where there is a barrier blocking your path.
Destroy the 3 generators in the area and follow the waypoint that leads you back to Spider’s Barge until you reach another barrier blocking your path.
Walkers need to be left behind in this area, and you will need to go in through the small entrance and fight your way through more combatants until you reach the nearby console.
This will make the device powering the generators vulnerable (round glowing devices), and you will need to shoot them as you make your way back.
Upon destroying the last device, the barrier will be deactivated, and you may proceed with making your way back to Spider’s Barge.
Spider will have already left by now, and Pikers will be on ships, attacking you as you make your way to the barge, requiring that you fight your way through them.
After clearing out the enemies, board the barge and activate the Rally Point to prepare for the final fight of this mission.
Combatants will begin to appear on the barge, and you will need to defend yourself from them until the boss arrives on the scene.
The boss named Barcus Amal will appear and continuously attack you while also attempting to scorch you with his flamethrower as he chases you.
Taking out part of his health will make him invulnerable until you find and defeat the Imperium Decurion Psions that appear.
The Imperium will begin to transmit bombs onto the barge, and you will need to flee and make your way to the marked area where the Exfil Hawk appears. (Mission ends shortly after it arrives)
Fearsome Retainer Mission Rewards
Once the Exfil Hawk appears, a rewards chest will appear nearby, but the mission often ends quickly, which should result in any important loot being brought to the Postmaster.
Completing this mission will allow you to progress with the Renegades Quest, allowing you to proceed to Quest Step 11.
Verdict
With Spider’s help, you secured the Splicer Shank needed to breach the Imperium’s defenses and advance the Renegades Quest.
Unfortunately, the Pikers betrayed you during the outpost assault, forcing you to fight through their ambushes while finishing the objective alone.
Spider escaped before the Imperium bombardment destroyed his barge, leaving you to defeat Barcus Amal and secure extraction.
