Approach certain resource nodes without the proper protection and they will simply disappear, making it impossible to collect them until you figure out what is happening.
Fortunately, the game does explain this mechanic and provides two different ways to protect yourself, so you can gather World Tree resources without watching them vanish.
Why Do World Tree Materials Disappear?
During the To the World Tree quest, an NPC explains that certain World Tree resources are protected by the tree’s divine power and will decay when approached by someone without its protection.
The NPC specifically explains that materials such as Mythical Wood and Paloxite will instantly decay if touched by someone who lacks the World Tree’s divine protection.
This is why the resources disappear as you approach them, meaning you are not dealing with a broken resource node or a bug affecting your game.
To prevent this from happening, you need to obtain the World Tree’s protection, which can be done by drinking World Tree Holy Water or having a Pal with one of the special World Tree Passive Skills.
How To Stop World Tree Materials From Disappearing?
You can prevent World Tree materials from disappearing by either consuming World Tree Holy Water or having a Pal with a World Tree Passive Skill in your party.
Consume World Tree Holy Water
Drinking World Tree Holy Water grants you the World Tree’s divine protection for a limited duration, allowing you to approach and harvest protected resources without making them disappear.
This is the simplest option when you only need to make a quick gathering trip, although you will need to drink more Holy Water once the effect wears off.
World Tree Passive Skills
Certain Pals can have special Passive Skills that provide the same protection, allowing World Tree resources to remain intact whenever you approach them.
There are seven known Passive Skills with this effect, and each one also provides a powerful bonus alongside a drawback:
- Demon’s Hand – +90% Work Speed / +15% SAN Depletion Rate
- Dimensional Leap – +50% Movement Speed / +15% Hunger Depletion Rate
- God of Destruction – +40% Attack, +20% Defense / -50% Max HP
- Hermit Sage – -50% SAN Depletion Rate / -20% Work Speed
- Sanctified Meat Shield – +50% Defense / -30% Attack
- Twin-Edged Holy Blade – +50% Attack / -30% Defense
- World Tree Seedbed – -50% Hunger Depletion Rate / -20% HP
Having one of these Pals in your party provides the protection needed to approach World Tree resources without causing them to vanish.
