Panthalus is one of the toughest encounters introduced in Palworld 1.0, with this enormous guardian putting up a serious fight before allowing you to claim it for yourself.
Unlike most boss encounters, the battle against Panthalus takes place around the ocean, giving you a huge arena but also making positioning and mobility extremely important.
With its massive health pool, powerful Water attacks, and several attacks that can cover a large area, you will need a strong team and good movement to bring this guardian down.
Panthalus, Legendary Ocean King Location
The Panthalus encounter takes place at the Deserted Islet, where the Ancient Civilization Researcher is located at approximately -814, -824.
You will need to progress through the Panthalus quest and prepare the Echoing Flute before you can start the battle against this guardian.
Once everything is ready, return to the Deserted Islet and use the Echoing Flute to begin the encounter. (This takes you into another instance, similar to entering a dungeon)
Fighting Panthalus, Legendary Ocean King
Panthalus is a Level 70 Water type boss, so you should bring high level Pals and strong equipment if you want to defeat it within the time limit.
The enormous arena gives Panthalus plenty of room to move, so using flying Pals is a good way to stay mobile and keep your attackers within range throughout the fight.
Panthalus’s head is its main weak point, with the crystal on its forehead taking significantly more damage when targeted correctly.
Keep your distance when Panthalus begins charging its larger attacks, especially when it creates water tornadoes that can cover a wide area and continue following you across the battlefield.
You will also need to watch for its water blades and homing bubbles, which can punish you quickly if you remain stationary or become too focused on attacking.
When Panthalus dives toward the water, move away from its landing area immediately, as the resulting attack can cover a large section of the surrounding area.
Ranged weapons are particularly useful during this fight because they allow you to keep pressure on Panthalus’s weak point without having to approach the massive guardian directly.
The battle is limited to 10 minutes, so avoid playing too defensively and take advantage of every opening to attack its head while keeping enough stamina to escape its larger attacks.
Once Panthalus’s health has been depleted, the encounter is completed and Panthalus is automatically captured, meaning you do not need to bring Pal Spheres for the fight.
Panthalus, Legendary Ocean King Drops (Dungeon Boss)
Loot | Quantity | Drop Chance |
Diamond | 1 | 100% |
| Giant Pal Soul | 1 | 100% |
Bounty Token
While Panthalus is a powerful boss and expected to provide a bounty token, no Bounty Token is rewarded after defeating it.
Verdict
Panthalus can be intimidating because of its size and powerful attacks, but the fight becomes much easier once you learn its attack patterns.
A strong flying team combined with ranged damage will give you plenty of opportunities to target the crystal while avoiding the guardian’s more dangerous attacks.
Defeating Panthalus not only completes an important story encounter but also guarantees that you obtain this massive guardian, making the difficult battle worthwhile.
