Players often fight the tower boss as part of their progression, but some may choose to interact with the Altar beforehand to travel straight to Sunreach.
Interacting with the Altar will teleport you directly to Sunreach, where you can access other waypoints to easily teleport back and forth between the Sky Islands and other areas.
