Bakemi is a Dark Pal that can be a surprisingly helpful addition to your party when you’re dealing with enemies that rely heavily on their attacks.
Its Grinning Death Partner Skill gives it a useful defensive angle in battle, while its Dark typing makes it a natural fit for teams that already make use of Poison.
Bakemi can also contribute around your base with solid Medicine Production and Handiwork, giving you another reason to keep one around after you’ve finished exploring.
Bakemi Location
Bakemi can be found around Farcry Marsh in Sunreach, mainly across the eastern side of the floating island.
The area is located north of Sunreach Watchtower, so using the tower as a landmark can make finding the marsh and its Bakemi population much easier.

Grinning Death
While Bakemi is in your party, Grinning Death reduces the Attack of enemies afflicted with Poison by 40% when you attack them. This effect does not stack.
The skill makes Poison especially useful when facing enemies that already hit hard, since Bakemi can turn the status effect into a way of reducing their offensive power.
You can also pair Bakemi with Pals or attacks that reliably inflict Poison, allowing you to maintain the condition and get more opportunities to benefit from the reduced Attack.
Bakemi Uses
Bakemi is particularly useful in parties built around Poison, where keeping enemies afflicted gives you a consistent way to make difficult encounters more manageable.
The reduced Attack can be helpful against bosses and tougher enemies, giving you more breathing room to heal, dodge, reposition, or continue attacking without taking quite as much punishment.
