Mother’s Guidance is a very short quest that merely serves as a part of the lore as you continue with the Lord of Hatred campaign.
After your second journey within The Mind’s Eye, you learned about how a certain blade can do more than just kill Mephisto.
You have left The Mind’s Eye, and as usual, Lorath is eager to know what you have learned and seems to be more supportive of what is to come.
How To Get Mother’s Guidance Quest?
Mother’s Guidance is the next quest that you obtain after the quest that is called What Was Given, which had you exploring The Mind’s Eye.
After learning what you need to do to put a stop to Mephisto, you leave The Mind’s Eye and are now bound to speak with Lorath.
Mother’s Guidance Walkthrough
Once the quest begins, make your way to Lorath by entering the exit portal or by logging in if you already left before leaving The Mind’s Eye.
Lorath will be near the Cradle of the Eye, and you may speak to him to begin the conversation where you explain what is needed to fight Mephisto.
After explaining everything to Lorath, he makes his way to the Temple of Life, and you are to follow after him shortly.
During the conversation with Lorath, a cinematic will begin, which adds a dramatic flair to what has happened and what will happen. (Quest ends after the cinematic)
Mother’s Guidance Quest Rewards
Speaking to Lorath during the quest ends shortly after the cutscene, which causes the next quest called A Devil in the Garden to begin.
In addition to the next quest being unlocked, you also receive:
- XP
- Gold
- Rare Equipment
Completing this quest also provides you with the What Wakes Inside achievement, which rewards you with the Fated and Oracle player titles.
Verdict
This is a short but important transition that brings you out of the Mind’s Eye and back into the real world, where the plan finally starts to take shape.
After speaking with Lorath, you share what Lilith revealed about the blade, making it clear that it won’t kill Mephisto but instead banish him to the Void.
Seeing the significance of this, Lorath pushes to find the blade immediately, knowing that imprisonment is the only way to truly stop Mephisto without risking his return.
